I’m afraid I can’t accept that as a legitimate response, a load of his mates and the manager that signed him praising him.

Crouch scored loads of headers because he’s about 8 foot tall but anyway, what does that have to do with anything? I never said Zouma wasn’t good in the air, you said Crouch claimed he’d go on to be Chelsea and France’s number 1 centre back.

If you want me to explain why I rate him it’s very simple, very few defenders have his combination of high level athleticism, physicality, aerial prowess and anticipation, but we’re not going to agree so I’ll leave it there for now

He’s good in the air, but no better than Mina, and he’s very strong, then after that I’m actually struggling to think of anything he particularly excels at. He has a lot of flaws to his game in terms of concentration, specifically marking, and technical ability on the ball. But that’s just my two cents, I do think we could do with another centre back though as Holgate doesn’t convince me.

That’s the point though, if someone with the height of Crouch talks about Zouma’s leap and aerial dominance that’s surely a testament to his ability?

Rudiger is a lot like Zouma but better, however I do think he shares some of the same flaws. He’s not great on the ball either but has more nous and defensive intelligence about him.

Surely we should just wait for Zouma himself to prove all these things? Doesn’t really matter who rates him - only he can actually do the performances that confirm or deny the comments.

I think he’s happy ..if he really wanted to be with us he would’ve put the transfer request in.

And that just proves the point that if he wanted to come back,a transfer request would have made it happen ban or no ban as they sold Luiz and zouma would have happened weeks ago when people were saying they wont sell him because of ban,A player may be better suited to a team better than hes currently at,and Zouma may end up been one of those players,time may tell

I do remember Salah going clean through at Goodison though, because Zouma had charged miles out of position and left a gap. But I’m not allowed to mention that.

No player will go a whole season without doing something silly. There was also that mix up with Pickford in the Tottenham game just off the top of my head but despite that he showed here he was good enough, especially with that run of results we got at the end of the season.

What happened at Stoke beforehand or now with Chelsea is immaterial. If we can get him in Jan I would be happy, equally happy though if we sign someone else who is decent.
