Is Zouma better than Mina? I'm still not sure he is. Would love to bring him back, but it's going to be beyond 30M at this point. Not sure there aren't better deals out there, but we'd be set at CB for awhile.

Yeah much better, pretty sure Silva thinks so as well, when Mina was fit enough to play the only time he replaced Zouma with Mina was against Chelsea, rest of the time it was mostly bench

Better? We cant say as we havent seen much of him, but we have of Zouma. If there is a chance we can get him then we have to take it up as there are no guarantees thst Mina will become a top player.

Zouma was part of our worst defensive displays last season whereas Mina, well, wasn’t.

After that you have returning loanees/young players such as Tomori, Baker and even Chalobolah who may all be in front of him given Lampards priorities.

I don't think it's a case of Hector being ahead of Zouma (or Kalas for that matter) more just if they require a lad to be 5th choice and provide a bit of experience over say the younger players, I suspect they will use one of those lads over Zouma. That's essentially who he is in competition with at Chelsea. They won't get 30 million for the other 2 though. If they are concerned over numbers, they will cancel a loan deal before they cancel a big money transfer.

I actually think Lampard will move up Tomori and possibly the lad playing next to him at under 21's.

No one except Lampard fully knows who his first choice CBs are, the fact that Rudiger, Luiz and Christensen were ahead of him under Sarri means absolutely nothing. I think Lampard has even played with Zouma so he must be aware of his qualities, so you can’t say there’s “no chance”, for all we know Lampard may rate him as one of their best CBs.

Apart from Tomori, the young players you stated all played in midfield and if Azpi is no longer good enough at RB, he’ll most likely be dropped altogether since it makes no sense at all keeping someone not good enough in a team. Zouma’s made over 60 appearances for Chelsea so I have no idea why they would favour a player like Hector who probably isn’t close to being that standard and hasn’t made a single appearance for them

He may be signed permanently but to suggest he’s definitely 100% not in their plans based on assumptions doesn’t make sense to me
