With the exception that Chelsea have been known in the past to buy/sell players without the managers approval. Much bigger profile managers than Frank Lampard too. In fact, sometimes I've wondered with Chelsea just how much input to the transfer process do their managers/head coaches actually have.
I would totally agree fred but I just cant see Frank agreeing to the roll if he had that little input on signings...I guess time will tell. It's not like I haven't been wrong before though x

Only issue then becomes would be we’d have three 30 million pound centrebacks all expecting to be first choice if they’re all fit. Perhaps we could rotate dependent on opposition but if we get a partnership that sticks then there’s going to be one very unhappy player somewhere.

Personally I’d go Mina and Zouma as harsh as that sounds on Keane after last season. I think if we got both fit and in form and settled they are powerful, fast and strong in the air. Keane will always be unsettled by pace.

John Stones sits on Cities bench week after week and he cost 50m.

Those are the levels required to truely compete now.

For me, Mina is still somewhat of an unproven quantity as while he did have some strange games, there wasn't a sustained period and that's the acid test.

I'd be very surprised if Keane doesn't start the season as one of the first choice centre half, even if we do sign Zouma.
About 60% of Keane's games for us can be described as 'strange' games. I'm still not totally sold on him personally.

I'd go the same mate. Had a good season keane but as you say his pace is terrifying

What do you mean by strange games mate?. He had a season wrecked by injury, which I admit is concerning, and was only able to start 7 Premier League games. But he was my MOM in at least 1 of those games and overall I thought he did very well considering his lack of fitness and being a newcomer to the league. Also 4 of those games he started were away to the teams that finished in the 4 champions league positions.

I think it's important that we have strong competition for places and I'd be delighted if we had Keane, Mina and Zouma to choose from for the CB positions. In fact I would be happy to start with any combination, albeit I'd feel safer with Zouma starting in games were Silva intends to play a higher line. However I'd be lying if I said that, of the 3, Mina is the one that I most want to succeed. Not only is he potentially a beast in the opposing area, he also looks to have an absolutely fantastic personality, a real character. It's a long time since our fans have had a proper hero. And I mean a proper one in the Alex Young/Duncan McKenzie mould. I think this guy could be the next one.

I'm sure a lot of managers ask for that assurance when they go there. The find out the reality is different. It may be one of the reasons top quality managers don't stay long there.

Aye you could be right. I really want Zouma here as he adds so much to the defence but it just seems a bit too easy for us to sort out our business so quickly ..there just has to be hiccups or it wouldbt feel right

Imagine this place if we were Chelsea

Just sold our best player, who won games on their own last season and cant even replace him. Haggling with Derby over a manager whos only been in a job 5 minutes and couldnt get promoted.

Zooms needs to LEAVE!!
We would've just won the Europa League and be playing in the Champions League next season so I'd cope.

Who got less points than the year before-only 1 point but less lol, Its a sentimental signing for the boss nothing else as hes done nothing at all, only Chelsea trying to get fans onside, and i dont think as usual with chelsea that the new boss will last.but i do think we will get Zouma anyway

Crashes can come very quickly.

United have not fully recovered from SAF departure.

Hazard was a genius footballer. He will leave a huge hole in the club.
The fact we are able to tentatively hope to compete with Chelsea/United/Arsenal, shows how much healthier the club is from 12 months ago.
