For what it's worth I doubt this will happen now with lampard coming in. Zouma was part of the 4th best defence in the leauge last season and only a fool would a) ignore that and b) leave themselves with only 3 recognised cb's with European competitions to play as well.

If Zouma fancies playing most weeks he might push to come to us anyway. Even with the transfer ban, Chelsea won’t want to pay the wages of a player who isn’t happy being there. They have a young of who played for Lampard at Derby too so he might be happy with him as fourth choice behind the three others and Zouma leaving for us.

I don’t think it’s the end of the world if we don’t get him. He’s shown how much we need a defender who is strong and pacey rather than the likes of Williams Jagielka Alcaraz etc. I’m not going to forget the period over Jan and Feb where he completely forgot what the offside line was and was absolutely all over the shop positionally. When he’s on his game he’s a top player, when he’s not he wouldn’t get in ahead of Keane and Mina.

Would be good to have all three and be able to ply whichever 2 are in form.

I don’t think we will get him. Regardless of them needing him, they won’t sell to us at this time. We need him more than they do and with the ban - He’d get games and want to impress there. Additionally if he is allowed to go, they are going to be able to get a big fee for the lad.

I’m just managing my expectations with this one.

I view it that he has to re-establish himself at a club with an unproven manager, and that has just lost it's only true world star.

He will be aware of our ambition, and with the right sort of additions, I could see us asking him again if he wants to sign here permanently.

But it's a club he knows and are you telling me he's not looking at a luiz and thinking i can get ahead of him. There's also the fact he will be playing champions league football and he will get a between 25-30 games this season.

For me there's more chance of lampard looking at players like zouma, Abraham, james and batshuayi then the likes of the old guard.

Worst comes to worst they can sell him for the same money next summer as this summer.

A chelsea fan told me yesterday and hes been right on every single thing hes said,well before its been said,reckoned we willing to pay £50m for zouma 2 months ago, but that was while he thought Sarri would still be around next season and thought we have a great chance of getting him,,if that amount was right or if we do or dont we would see,as 50mil seems a bit much to me lol

'The likes of Jagielka'? He deserves a lot of respect from us and you've shown him none putting him in the same category as Alcarez.

I only compared their speed which towards the end of their careers wasn’t good enough for top level premier league footbll. There’s no shame to say that a 36 year old player was no longer good enough. Ten years ago Jagielka was better than Zouma Keane and Mina put together. Thats how highly I rated him back then.

Main problem is you can't guarantee that Keane and Mina will be on top of their game either. They are all pretty much equal to me, they all have great traits and some major flaws. Probably why they play for (or were playing for) us I suppose.

Luiz was one of his ex team mates though for longer than Zouma so if anything he might look to guarantee Luiz playing time which could benefit us getting Zouma. Hopefully we have plan B and C ready to move to if it’s not Zouma.
