..if you watched Barry away at Man Utd recently he was fantastic. Had he played against the Reds I'm convinced it wouldn't have been so bad. It's all about opinion, I think he's still worth having around. Also, RK was reluctant to let Jagielka go in January and I think that was justified, he played well in the final third of the season.

I'm all for getting better in but we'd struggle with a few injuries if we are playing on a number of fronts. We'll need players.
Just going to have to agree to disagree mate!

Think both of them are well past their sell by date, but like you say its about opinions.

Because neither will or should be playing any football for us. If they want to go on playing then they should go to a team where they have a chance at first team football.

We are a club aiming for champions league, not a retirement home.

yes, they shouldn't be starting for us, but a team is only as good as its squad, you will struggle to win a league/cup with a top class starting 11 and a bench full of inexperienced kids. I would rather jagielka come on in a cauldron of hatred in a far flung european game in turkey than some 18 year old kid who has only played a season of u23s.

Players U21 dont count towards HG status.

I'm assuming there's a squad limit of 25 players of which 8 need to be HG here so I may be wrong if not....

U21 players don't need to be registered as part of the 25 player list to be eligible to play.

There isn't an actual requirement to have 8 HG players if you aren't registering the full complement of 25. It's more a limit of 17 non HG players. You could feasibly just register 17 senior non HG players and leave 8 empty places. The club would still be compliant with the registration rules and free to play any U21 players who aren't on the squad list for the competition.

Of course, it makes much more sense to fill the 8 places with senior HG players over 21 and still be able to supplement the squad of 25 registered players with your unregistered U21 players.

You are indeed correct, but would you rather have 2 spaces or Jags and Gaz Baz? I know its not as simple as that, but just something to consider.

If that's the case, then fair enough. I can't argue against that.

Come on Goat, all good FM/FIFA virgins know this...

Hopefully Conor takes the jump from lurker to poster on here now after his unfortunate release.

Would be nice, but considering some people's opinions on him, and the fact that presumably he'll be playing somewhere wide, I doubt it.

I knew the rules fam, I was just coming from a desire to have a 25 man squad.

I think Rooney set our expectations a bit high over the last decade. Vaughan, McAleny, Baxter, George Green etc. even Ross all got way overhyped. Probably happens at every club though tbf
