Expected him to stay another couple of years maybe. Some possible reasons:
1 - The doctor says that one more season of first pumping the Kop (after yet another 5-3 win from 2-3 down at the 90th min) will literally kill him
2 - He's about to get blown up for PED use and wants to leave with dignity
3 - The incoming IR will also have power to govern PGMOL. Hence no more favours from stockley park
4 - He's sick of having it so easy and wants to sort Reading out

Wish I could be as jubilant as some on here, but I remember thinking it'd be all milk, honey and derby wins after Stevie G left for America..... plus we all know Alonso's going to be another Arteta who just pulls miracles out of his ass.
