I hope this doesnt start up a whole new thread about the Kirkby issue, but if it isn't called in does that mean that the club has the green light and the ball will start rolling regards actually building the stadium?

Yep, providing we can find the cash down the back of the sofa (allegedly, the naming rights have ended with KMBC themselves: The Knowsley Met Stadium, if you believe gossip and rumour - bet all the Kopites in Knowsley are spittin' .. the thought of their council tax subsidising our Stadium )

Call in, nailed on...unless Leahy has paid off Blears as well as the Knowsley lap dog councillors.

If it gets called in, I'd like to see Keith Wyness do the honourable thing and resign from his lucrative £400,000 pa job at Everton FC. I spoke to someone who attended the hearing today, someone not particularly harsh on Wyness in the past, they say he made a fool of himself and by extension the club by begging for a vote to pass the application.

For shame.

NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I prey to my many Gods that we don't move to Kirkby. As an owner of many small shops in Liverpool Tesco have caused me many sleepless nights. I firmly believe that Tesco has too much influence amongst the brass who are making these decisions. Funny how just last week the council involved were very much against the idea and today it gets the green light!

Tesco defy councils, government and anyone. It stinks!
If Tesco want it? They get it!

If it gets called in I guess we'll be standing in overflowing pissers and restricted views at Goodison for another 10 years

tbh i'd rather stay at goodison now. i was pro kirkby for a while but i'm losing faith in it. the latest article on toffeeweb where the stadium is openly critized by the the council as being disappointing in design really sums it up.

i do want a new stadium but kirkby looks a cheap and nasty option. how about the kings dock design?

You must be kidding, why use a perfectly good, well thought out design when you can pay planners tens of thousands to come up with a new one, don't you know the way EFC is run yet?

lol. yeah, what was i thinking. in the other thread (which is now closed) i was about to agree with inertia about his opinion. that is exactly how i feel. i would imagine there are quite a few blues out there who no longer see kirkby as a shiny option to all our problems. it will be an average stadium with an average turnover. we are sacrificing all we have for that? (n)

Are you all forgetting that BK is a true Blue? He didn't get us a second-rate manager and I'm sure he won't get us a second-rate stadium.

pete, i want to believe... but to quote knowsley council "[the stadium] being of poor design quality."

poor design quality. right there is the final nail for me. i can live with kirkby, leaving goodison and leaving liverpool itself but only if we are going to a quality ground.

if england were to host the euro's or the world cup would fifa choose kirkby as a venue. honestly do you think with an evaluation like that from the council? then why go there if it is average at best?

Dont want to get into Yes/No debate (my views are well documented), but getting fed up with people (of both sides), using half truths as fact

Just read the toffee web article, were does it say the council thought it was of poor design?

Ahead of the meeting of Knowsley's Planning Committee on Monday to approve the Tesco application, a 462 page Agenda and Report has been prepared by the Planning Office for the committee members.

It contains the following passage: "Stadium – the building has been criticised by some consultees and local community representations as being of poor design quality. It has to be acknowledged that the design adopted here, in contrast to some recent stadium proposals, is not one for an iconic exemplar building. Rather, the design is a somewhat more traditional stadium design with four separate stands and this shows in its outward appearance. Indeed, a somewhat utilitarian and cost-conscious design is evident in the way that the underside of the upper stands is revealed to outward view."

this does not read to me as the council are saying it, just reporting concerns from some consultees and local representations.

we moan that we want all the information, but when they were honest enough to give it, we moan!

Stroll on three weeks......
If yes, great, stop moaning, stop bitching, dont gloat, get it built
If no, great, stop moaning, stop bitching, dont gloat, move on
