Have to wonder where the season would have gone if we'd have used him alongside Garner as an 8.

He was fantastic there in the few games they played together and Garner looked more settled as well.

In the advaned / 10 position an Alcaraz, Grealish or Dibling could have made the difference for us.

I like him, but you can see why he's been passed on by elite clubs.

The type of footballer Moyes regards as a genius...him and Osman.

Think that’s a harsh assessment of him personally. He was taken by Chelsea who were a top club, and binned off by them (but so were Lukaku, Salah and de Bruyne). Agreed it wasnt his best performance today, but he has been one of the few successes of last summers awful recruitment. Under a different manager and played as an 8 I think he could be even more influential for us.

And sadly we are not at that level to attract players who are top level. We do have a number of very good players who if coached and handled correctly could go on to be a top class players.But that is for another argument.

a) he needs to shave whatever the [Poor language removed] that is on his face. just....no.

b) most of his 1 on 1s have been awful. Last 2 he just....stopped. At least the last one I could get; it was on his weaker foot. This one tho? That was awful by every metric.

I accept that.

So we need to be realistic about what we have and what they can do.

IMO - and I've said this many a time - we need a passing team. KDC and Ndiaye are dribblers and great when it goes well and they're bang in form. However, consistency of form comes through combination play. We cant pass the ball. That's the problem. We need a manager who can coach a football playing team. They dont have to be superstars, just good at passing and moving into space to take a pass.
