I think Dowell certainly looks like he can make the step up, but even in the pre-season games last summer it was clear he needed to strengthen up a bit and get a good run of minutes in a settled side. He wouldn't have got that with us and the loan has clearly benefited him.

It’s more than strengthening up. He has the skill, no doubt, but he’s still miles off making the step up. Very lose with possession and still seems petrified on stamping his authority on the game.
He seems to delicate and like he’s wrapped in cotton wool.

Definitely has the talent. I just think that the loan was good for him and the stats are backing that up.
Next season, with Ross gone, he should be a key part of the squad.
