How talented is he at that part of the job? Itls easy selling hot proprty; it;s another talent to be able to conduct a negotiation to get value off players in less demand...one he doesn't appear to have...or he cant be arsed with that side of the job and wants to just trim a bit of wages off the accounts.

...I find some of your arguments a little bewildering. It’s as though you expect him to be like a dodgy used car salesman blagging customers.

Sandro, for example, is on £80k+ per week, your saying it’s Brands fault he can’t pursuade him to leave and another club to buy him when his performances have been less than ordinary.

You blamed the club for Lukaku, Barkley and Stones wanting to leave, yet when Lookman wanted out you called him a snake. It’s all very inconsistent and contradictory.

Been saying it since the summer: easiest thing in the world is to fill a skip full of players and get them a loan deal at other clubs...and subsidising their wages in most cases.

Incomings he's done pretty well on. But this policy on loans just ratchets up the problem of getting shut of them for a fee as their contracts run down and they depreciate.

I think that's why Silva was left without a striker of note this window. The sale of one or two of those players could have funded one.

having 4 or 5 players on over a 100k a week when they are worth 25k a week is down to one man .. MOSHIRI.

his men put the deals for each player on the table and he sanctioned them

the fact now is no one is willing to take failed everton players on , for the wages they want. and the players aren't going to force a move and lose 75k a week are they !

hopefully Moshiri has now learnt , after losing 2 years and hundreds of millions on us. appointing brands to sort out his own mess is at least a start

we are stuck with the likes of tosun and Bolasie for the foreseeable future, unless of course we loan them out, but still pay them. which I always hate, but its the only way to free up squad spaces

Would be another poor loan out.

Learn nothing about the lad at a Celtic or Rangers in that league, and they'll pay tuppence if he does well.

That's the one criticism I have of Brands - outbound loan transfers. Bolasie, Vlasic...

Ive thought on this.

You say we should have kept Bolasie in the hope that somebody threw money at us in January for him, but in order for that to happen we of course would need to keep him. Whilst we keep him, we pay his wages, he could possibly get injured in training, playing for the U23s, hell if we retain and pay him, we might even play him, we would probably have to play him in order for somebody to buy him.

This is all a gamble, a gamble that will cost us 80k a week, in the HOPE that somebody gives us some money.

Brands way, hes off the wage bill, hes in the shop window every week and more importantly, hes not playing for us, or course he could still get injured out on loan, but at least hes currently not costing us any money, other than the 27m we threw away when buying him.

I stand to be corrected, but I dont think that was what was being proposed by GOT. Selling him (and others) in the summer window was more than possible. Brands was focussed solely on incomings and wage reduction, it seems.

But ok, we see how he rolls in January and the summer to find out whether he has the nose for these things or not.

Thats not what Mr GOT was saying David.

Of course we would rather have sold them in the summer, but clearly nobody wanted to buy, in the case of Bolaise he had not long come back from a potential career ending injury, so good luck selling him a few months ago.

Of course Brands was focused on incomings and wage reduction, we had a massive squad rammed full of some really bad players on massive wages.

Personally I think we should have taken the Leipzig offer for Lookman who is, when all is said and done, a bit part player here. That cash plus another sale could have generated the money for the striker Silva obviously seeks.

All in all though, I refuse to believe Brands could only find the time to buy players and dump others on loans. That's not what I expected. He needs to find the balance...literally.

He was here for less than 6 weeks Dave.

In that time he signed 5 first 11 players, trimmed the wage bill and hired a manager who is currently doing very well.

So in 6 weeks he transformed the club, imagine what he can do in 6 years.

Nope, the manager was as good as done (certainly chosen, so there was no exhaustive and time consuming hunt and interview process), and he was at PSV but really hired and "here" in the final month over there, so he had ample time to get his ducks in a line.

He got all his ducks Dave.

Notice how Silva is asking for a Striker now? Which he will get, dont recall him asking for a Striker in the summer.

Because he had to be seen to be handing those attacking players a chance. That was Brands' mantra in the summer: look over the squad of current players. I think Brands downgraded the importnace of a striker and went with LB/CB targets, assuming that at least one of the three duffers we have would strike gold. They haven't. That was a mistaken strategy and now Silva will demand and get a striker of his choice in January.

Sure, we saved a few quid on his wages - but we've lost than in transfer fee.

Bolasie is just one example. Mirallas another - Vlasic is a better one on the point of Dowell going to the Scottish League. It would be a poor loan move.

It'll be interesting to see how well Brands can sell - as is, he's just loaned out, and in my view, not well.

I think his hands were tied to a degree, we had bad players on big wages. Its going to take a few windows till we know how Brands operates.

In respect of Dowell, I think a decision has been made that he isnt gonna cut it here, so now its about getting him in the shop window and punting.

That's my whole point.

You loan out to develop/draw conclusions, or to shop window/sell.

I think Scotland/Rangers is poor for both;

Would be another poor loan out.
