Dowell is a Championship midfielder, so best to get him out asap on a permanent.

Same as Davies, although tbf I might go as far as to say he'll probably end up in League One. Terrible player.

For me there is no way Dowell could stand in for Gomes. Gomes is a far more combative player than Dowell who is by contrast almost anonymous when we do not have possession. You can’t really afford a lightweight player in that position.
When he was at Forest they were struggling at the wrong end of the table and the fans after initially being impressed by his undoubtedly sublime skills also commented on his pronounced tendency to also go missing in games. It was no real surprise that Karanke sacrificed him from that central position to stiffen them defensively nor that he tried to retain him as an offensive player albeit in the less exposed winger role.
In a sense he is something of a neutral player ,what you gain in attacking football you lose defensively and that is not good enough to claim a regular place in a Premier League squad.
I sincerely hope he proves me wrong in the years to come but ,currently, I don’t think he has any future in the top league.
Pretty much agree with all of that. I watched Dowell in televised matches and followed a Forest forum thread. He was often criticised by their fans for going missing and rarely played 90 mins initially. Once he got up to full fitness , played 90 mins, usually as a 10 in the central position his whole game improved. His hat trick against Hull and his general play when they beat Arsenal were indeed sublime. For a number of those games he was their best player. But Forest had lots of weaknesses, and when they started to lose , changed their manager then he became almost a luxury . In a decent Championship side he could be the catalyst that helps a team to the PL, but he’d struggle in a side trying to avoid relegation.

Who needs rivals when we have fans like this.

No hope for us.
Ok mate. I'll rephrase it for you.

Dowell should be anchoring the midfield at PSG and Davies, well, I don't know why Solskjaer hasn't gone all out to replace Pogba with him.

Is that nicer for you? Take off your blue-tinted glasses.

Yes because that how it works....one extreme or the other. Zero in-between at all.
They are not good enough for Everton. Quite clearly. Even for our bench. So would you suggest we keep and pay them just because they are young and supporters of the club? We'd be in a terrible financial situation if you were in charge.

there is middle ground mate, not every player is World Class and not every player is utter crap, some are(in fact a majority) are decent premier league standard players because unless you watch a different league to me, outside of the top 6 the quality of player is exactly this. Decent players but not World Class and not League 1 standard.

Other than Man City, nobody else has big squad depth. A couple of injuries in one position and you see teams playing their youngsters, and they're usually about the level of Dowell. That said, there comes an age where they need to leave, so the next youngster can move up the pecking order.

Worse players than Tom Davies have picked up title medals at this club. He may not be top drawer but there needs to be an avenue for local players to get into the mix.

What if they're rubbish?

Can you tell me the last game Davies had where he was a positive influence on the game?

Wasn't it against Manchester City in 2017?

Not the point I was making, Tom Davies is the least of our worries at the moment.
He's part of the deadwood. He earns a lot less than the likes of Schneiderlin, McCarthy et el, but he's still on a wage and is nowhere near up to the required standard. Thus, he should be punted, Evertonian or no Evertonian.
