It's imperative that whoever the DOF is, that they are aligned with the manager. Clearly this isn't the case with Dyche which is partly why we are in this position.

People talking about Thelwell needs to be aligned with the manager…
If we’re gonna do the director of football thing properly then Thelwell should be the one hiring the manager and the players should be bought by him to help the manager play the way Thelwell brings him in to play. Then if the manager does a bad job it’s still the director of football’s players for another similar manager to be brought in to manage.
We’ve never done this before because we’ve had interfering chairman… interesting to see what we do under Friedkin group now

Does a DOF have a say in striking coaches?
I seem to remember Brands wanting to bring in some additional coaching help for Silva instead of sacking him. If the DOF was really in charge you would think it would carry some pull if they discussed additional coaching support with the manager.
