I would have more sympathy for him being hamstrung with our financial situation if he didn't spend the guts of £30m on Maupay and McNeill in the Summer.

Maupay especially. If we'd not sent Simms on loan and played him instead, I'd put money on us being much better off now.

Maupay isn't a bad player. We just lump the ball up to him and expect it to stick. Averaged 9 goals a season at Brighton, a good manager will find a way to make it work between him and DCL. By not playing to his strengths he became a terrible signing.

McNeil is inexcusable though, a truly awful awful player.
