I have no memory of ever seeing him actually run. He ambled. He had so much skill and vision in his locker though. He could single-handedly change a game with a flash of brilliance. Besides the obvious, the one moment that sticks in my mind was the time he was stood just outside the penalty area and the opposition defence was packed. He stood there with the ball at his feet and scooped the ball over all of them. Inch read it and volleyed it home. Amazing.
He was very much like Martin Dobson in that respect, always seemed to be crawling, yet used to beat people all day???

Remember a game,I think it was Norwich, they lined up the biggest wall they could in an attempt to stop Sheeds scoring,he runs up does a sublime dink over the wall to Heath to slot home

Always remember us when we first signed him the two reds on my sisters side - I just casually asked them was he any good?
There faces dropped as they even went to a lot of reds reserve games, they snarled yes he is class why we sold him God knows!lol
My how they were to be proved correctlol

I remember him scoring 2 goals in the 5-0 thrashing we gave Man U at Goodison, the first with an uncharacteristic header which I missed s I was still queuing outside.
If you watch the accompanying clip Sheeds takes a bad head knock in the process of scoring the first, he just picks himself up and gets on with it. Can you imagine today's players doing that?

I was down with a busload of Celtic lads that day as they didn't have a game that weekend, they were well impressed.

We followed that up by knocking United out of the cup at Old trafford with a nice own goal by John Gidman, I was at both of them, great days.

Got to know Sheeds quite well when he had a shop in Formby while he was out of football, when we got the sponsorship with Chang i was going to a mates housewarming party, knowing there was loads of kopites going I got a crate of the stuff and went around and and got Sheeds to sign them, the look on their faces, pricelesslol

If he played now sky would be eulogising over him as nauseam . The villa park free kick with just minutes left and if sky were covering the football then they'd still be showing that twice struck free kick.

One of the greatest to pull on the blue shirt .
Not just this, they'd be amazed and gobsmacked that he hadn't yet been snapped up by Manure or citeh

I remember aginst Ipswich I think it was, put a pearler of a free kick in the top corner.
Referee disallowed it because of the wall or something.
So he stepped up, took it again, and put it in the other top corner, magical left foot.

To be fair though man u hadn't won the league since I'd been born back then and city had just sneaked promotion to the top flight . Everton were big time , heady days

I remember Alan Ball as Southampton manager, talking about Le Tissier in answer to the 'lazy' tag. He said 'He's not lazy he's smart'. He went on to say that his dad had told him as a youngster to 'stand still and let the game come to you'.

That was Sheedy. I love clever players.

The 3rd goal here is very underrated. Exquisite technique.

OH aye. I was speculating how sky would be behaving is Sheedy were playing today. Indeed, heady days.
