Yessssssss, new 5 year deal for our 30 year old winger!!

WHAT ON EARTH?!????????

This is what Moshiri must have meant by saying he'd move to ensure our best talent dont leave. Let Stones, Barkley and Lukaku leave and retain Baines, Jagielka and Mirallas.

"The Mosh" has certainly come up trumps here. Well in Farhad. Cant wait to hear Jim White's spin.

hmm, bit odd as he doesn't seem a favourite of the manager's but fairly good news. We have plenty of areas that need assessing and a good squad player like him wanting out because he's not playing enough would have just been another annoying hindrance like mori, bolasie and coleman's long term injuries have been.

Sorry but I find this just silly. He's 29 and has hamstrings made out of cheesestrings. It's taken him 6 seasons to play a full 90 minutes.

Rather we spent these wages and signing bonus on a new signing.
He's 30 in early October and has clearly begun to decline. By the end of his contract he'll be a winger who's almost 34 years of age.
We need players for Europa so 2 years with an option for a third would seem reasonable but 4 years?
The contract lengths we give to older players are baffling. Rewards for loyalty sometimes perhaps i.e. Baines but mainly I think it reflects that we don't have the funds to replace these players in a timely fashion so regularly persist with them well beyond their peak.

great comment, 2/3 players you use as evidence are still playing for everton, top stuff (y)

No - idle speculation, but surely it does happen?

That would be some bitter pill to have to swallow to land a player: handing a four year extension out to a player already tied down - a player injury prone and (to put it VERY mildly) inconsistent.

It's a ridiculous decision.

We'res this not seen it anywere? I'm happy tbf as he will be used more nxt season and it's a far better option that a certain tom cleverly

Deulofeu, Kone, Lennon (wish him a speedy recovery), Cleverley, Niasse, Tarashaj, Garbutt, McGeady etc lots of deadwood to get rid eventually.
