No, its been fun lads.

We all wanna see the younger lads on the pitch, cos it excites us, as fans.

Lets hope they all get plenty of chances to prove themselves.

Im off to play GW2 now lads.

Love you

Fellaini is 24 and has 110
Rodwell is 21 and had 85

BUT

Its not about that, its about an 18 Year old Ross Barkley.

"Everton : the club where experienced internationals and first team players from Belgium, and right backs who get their debut at left back due to an injury crisis and play right mid because the manager is too stubborn or too blind to buy an actual right mid there, and won't actually play the inexperienced right back at right back ahead of a half fit right back get a chance"

Doesn't really have the same ring to it.

Its not about age, youth refers to young players in the reserves/academy who have no first team experience at a similar level elsewhere.

You know that.

So we cant call Gueye, Vellios or Junior youth?

I guess that just leaves Barkley and Duffy then.

I think i've explained my definition of chance quite well so far in this thread.

So put it this way : would you consider Kevin Mirallas to have had a chance at Everton to show what he can do so far? 2 sub appaearances and a start?

I wouldn't. People always say new signings need time and games to show what they can do before being judged.

So does youth. Youth very rarely gets that chance though.

I'll ask again.

No ones denying that a lot of young players have recieved debuts at Everton over the years. Whether thats more or less than other clubs i don't know.

But very few of them have actually been given a proper chance.

An excellent point.

I think I'd settle for our youth just getting a bit more of a chance. I don't really want us to be starting Gueye, Barkley and Vellios every game. But perhaps give them 30 minutes in a few games and if they do well -- like Vellios or Barkley last season -- then give them more time, don't just freeze them out. It must be confusing and insulting to play well as a young player and then find yourself getting less of a chance.

I meant to put little or no first team experience at Prem league level elsewhere.

I don't think any of our young reserve/academy players do.

Whereas Fellaini clearly does and does not count regardless of his actual age.

at the end of the day lads, at least we're not villa.

i mean their team atm looks like their blooding XI youngsters in at once. refreshing to see for the fans, but i doubt the fans will like that if they get relegated

Thats a good point mate. Villa seem the other extreme. I actually admire Martinez at Wigan hes been doing it for years now, he really believes in it and its exciting stuff, but id be dead now if i was a Wigan fan.

gotta be honest, i could probably name 4 or 5 of their starting XI max. fair play to them though, rugby is so much more a rugby sport there but they defy the odds season after season by avoiding relegation and playing some fairly decent football at the same time. would be a bit bored of watching my team constantly finishing 15th to 17th though

Very few make it, but that would be right wouldn't it. Very few clubs have better recent record than us, true ?

I honestly don't know how we compare to other clubs in terms of youngsters given debuts and subsequently given a run in the team to try and prove themselves opposed to one ten minute sub aopearance.

Would be interesting to know, but as I've said, I certainly don't believe we give young players a proper chance in the first more than your average prem team to deserve the tag of "the club that give youth a chance".
