I missed the point?

Nah mate, you are the one who said there were "plenty of Blues celebrating the semi loss to Chelsea" last year.

Blindingly missing the point that what they were actually doing was noting the achievment of reaching a first Semi under Moyes while adding that to steady improvement in the league and solidation of EFC as a top 6 club.

Compared to that of a bottom half relegation fighting club we were just a few short seasons before.

I don't know what universe you live in but in this one no football club has ever won anything overnight. No football club has ever gone from fighting relegation to winning the league overnight.

Its a gradual process that will take time.

You me and every other Everton fan i'm sure wants us to be the best club in the land. But that will not happen over night. Its will happen over time (if at all) but its a slow process.

And reaching cup Semi finals is a mark of that progress. Its the act of making the semi which is to be celebrated as part of an overall improvement not a single act which involves losing it.

Quite easy to see that if you just want to look.

You called it celebrating a loss. It was nothing of the sort. Its a balancing act between your hopes and aspirations for what you want your football club to be and the harsh reality of what they can actually achieve given the situation they find themselves in.

see animal farm......../\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ what he said!

there is also a difference between celebrating when you get knocked out and thinking sod it lets get pissed, which is also what most people did.

Nobody is expecting us to win the league championship...yet.

Its about satisfaction. Some of our fans seem to be ecstatic about the fact that we are losing semi finals.
These are the same fans who go mental when fat ****s like the fat spanish waiter call us a small club.

What pisses me off is that our success always seems to be compared to 1994 or 1998 and we are told that this was "just a few short seasons ago".

Yet 1987 was just 8 seasons previous to 1994.

Im sick and tired of 'not being absolute ****e' being viewed as a marker of success. Especially when it has become abundantly clear that we would be in the champions league if we had even the most remote amount of investment.

Im sorry, but I dont class losing semi finals as success.

I really don't know where these fans are mate, certainly not on here.

I certainly don't see anyone claiming that losing semi finals is a sucess???

Like i said before, what i see is fans celebrating reaching FA cup semi finals as a marker of 1 : how far we have come since being so low, and 2 : another step in the right direction that we want to be heading. Slow but steady progress which mixes our wants and expectations as fans with the harsh reality of football in 2009.

Do you think Nottingham Forrest fans right now would love to be losing FA cup semi finalists and 6th in the Premier League?

I bet anything they'd give their right arm for it. And i also bet the'd be some Forrest fans accusing them of lacking ambition and being satisfied with second best.

Its about looking at the whole picture.

Well Im glad that we agree that losing a semi final is not success.

I agree that we should be looking at the big picture, which is why constant references to 1998 piss me off.

1998 was over 10 years ago, its about time we got over that ****e.

Im sorry to repeat myself, and this will be my last post on this particular subject, but it is ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that if we had even the most remotest amount of investment we would be playing champions league football.

Yet despite this, there are thousands of evertonians who celebrate mediocraty just because they see it as a better than 1998.

Its not just 1998, its 2002 when Moyes took over and 2004 when we were ****e. Compare just 5 years ago to us now. Maybe other than Hull there isn't a team in the league who have improved like we have.

Its a record that deserves recognition regardless of anything else. We are on the up.

We went from facing relegation to being on the verge of Champions League football. Yes it sucks we ain't in it but thats a different issue altogether. Did you see the amount of ****ging off the board got in the summer on here?

I wouldn't call that "mediocrity" and once again i don't see any Evertonians celebrating anything of the sort.

I don't know why you keep using the words "success" and "celebrating" the way you do but it seems like you're doing so just to help your argument. Cause i certainly dont see any fans celebrating the success of mediocricy.

he being the one with breasts and a lingerie drawer.

*thats death not azul.

Breasts? *looks down* Well ok i have put on a bit of wait since christmas and they're starting to develop.

You Are My Sunshine
My only sunshine.
You make me happy
When skies are grey.
You'll never know, dear,
How much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away
