Keep Baines as Oviedo back up?

Does give us a nice dilemma doesn't it? Historically Baines has played every minute of every game. After his introduction to the side you can see Oviedo wanting more game time, so will Baines be rotated a bit more or will Oviedo play further forward?

...I posted on the match thread how brilliantly Oviedo has done, particularly taking account of the opposition he's faced this week. Baines still gets the nod, but he truly has given the Manager something to think about.

I would still have Baines ahead of the lad.....but I tell you what.

I no longer have a dread of Baines going for the big money in January.

Adter all the fretting we were doing here about looking for a replavement, looks like we jave him right inder our nose all along.

Oviedo can't be dropped the way he's playing, it's as simple as that. If Baines walked back into the starting eleven, then it'd be a return to the bad old days of David Moyes IMO; where favourites were picked every week, every year regardless of form and, often, actual footballing talent - see Phil Neville for details.

It won't happen though thankfully. If Oviedo is playing like this when Baines is fit, then he'll stay in the team.

Baines will come back in, but don't be surprised if Roberto rotates them reasonably often. Keeps them both fresh and raring to go.

I think over Christmas we'll need to rotate players so might see Baines or Oviedo doing a shift in the wide left position.

Can't help but think that maybe Baines started to believe he was a big fish in a small pond.

Hopefully watching us and Oviedo while he was out will give him a bit of perspective!

It's Oviedo's place to lose and that's how it should be, Competition for places would be massively undermined otherwise

I don't rate Moyes at all, but I've got to admit, he has brought some excellent players into this club. Makes you wonder why he rarely played him.

I suppose that's the thing. We can offer Baines a good wage (not super huge, but fantastic in any normal analysis), a place in a sexy team who are competing at the right end of the table. He's also an England regular whilst with us.

The only thing United can offer him that we can't right now is even more money to an already very wealthy man, and European football, which given their form this season may be something we can offer next year that they won't be able too.

He's also used to playing for us every week, which I can't see him doing for United. Big gamble imo.
