I get that and It's not my money. I just would hate us go the way of Leeds. Outbidding Chelsea just because we can, but tacky really. I'm sure we could get a quality defender cheaper than that.

Mate, Leeds had David O'Leary has manager and paid £7m for Seth Johnson while giving him ridiculous wages. The entire structure of Risedale was to secure CL with no business plan behind it in case they failed to qualify, the rest is history

As you say - inflated prices all round. Going rate I'm afraid. And often paid out without really knowing the quality (or if adaptable to the Premier League).

In the past maybe, it's not the strongest league anymore. They do focus on defending though so maybe you are right.
