Just what are we getting out of our relationship with the Hill Dickinson company?

You know what, that claim that Everton get £10M per annum for the naming rights deal will be put through the wringer in the coming months as Spurs sort out their deal.

When they finally get about £12M per annum their supporters will be saying "WTF! Everton got just two million less for their stadium"...then their owners will inform the likes of Martin Samuels to tell Spurs fans that Everton's deal is nowhere near £10M p.a.

It's going to be entertaining.
From what I’ve read 10m is a high European stadium naming rights deal. In the grand scheme, 6m is probably pretty big too for a team that has done nothing for 30 years.

The stadium is clearly the catalyst but fans are naive to think that the global markets would be currently queueing up to throw money at us atm.

Meanwhile, maybe Spurs may get some more but they’ve lost millions through not getting a deal done for years. Maybe credit to our commercial team for having something from day 1 which is ‘allegedly’, competitive.

But I take your point that the stadium doesn’t shout EVERTON atm. Would a few white seats spelling it out, really make all the difference though?

But they've gained so much more: an identity for their stadium, just as the later naming rights of COMS did for City and even Ashburton Grove allowed Arsenal some breathing space to identify their space as a football venue before the commercial name off Emirates was placed on it. Us? Straight off the bat almost with the H*** D******** commercial whoredom allowing us no time to establish our independent presence there.

The decision to do that - and then have a constant stream of newspaper articles build on it by just allowing Everton to be projected as a key tenant - will be the subject of case studies and haunt us for years.

This cant be finessed away as a 'pretty big commercial deal for a club that's done nothing for 30 years'.

Something has been tainted here and that'll affect the way our fans view this new stadium for years to come.

This is the same as Castore.

Moan, moan and moan some more.

You go with the highest bidder. Thats why we haveStake sprawled across the front of our kits.

We are a midtable club, commercially, have performed far worse than that for 5 year
Id be interested to see just how much more people think we should have got? Likewise with Castore.... whos paying us £20m a season?

Wanda Metropolitano? Whats Wanda?
Gewiss Stadium? Whats Gewiss?
WWK Stadion, whats WWK?

You get exposure by performing on the pitch, not by the name of your Stadium. If the £6m or £10m a year aere commanding helps us improve the tram and compete for Europe, bring it on.

I don’t think I agree. Everyone still talks about the Echo Arena, GMEX and MEN Arena. Not all of them were the first sponsorship names. If people want to call it Bramley Moore, the Everton Stadium, the new Goodison, Hill Dicks Arena or its official title then who cares!
I’ll still get my season ticket and still go.

Personally I probably prefer our stadium to be a standalone thing rather than part of a global portfolio.

I’ve been to the Emirates and Highbury. I don’t think there’s a particular identity, it’s Arsenal’s ground. City is different as it was built for a primary purpose with specific future use intended so yes, they had to work to move away from the game, something which the Olympic stadium wasn’t designed to do, hence the ongoing issues there.

Success on the field equals happy fans

I know! Apparently it doesn’t look Everton enough though and is merely a multi-functional space so I was trying to suggest a soft solution
It's one of those things which is a nice touch, and might make people feel more at home when entering the stadium (just like the other everton branding and imagery which is slowly coming along), but makes zero difference to our 'global identity' when the TV cameras show the game.

Arsenal fans fought back to produce Arsenalification with the turn of the clock and for example and certain other changes; City fns the same.

It's inevitable there'll be pushback against the anonymous presence of Everton at this 'facility'.
