I can only imagine how a man like Harry Catterick would operate in todays transfer market.There was a time when players were attracted to a club or wanted to play under a manager but finances were less of a consideration.Now,even the wealthiest clubs almost have to grovel to sign players.
Reading the post from Sheedy,we get a small flavour of all that is happening in the background in putting a deal together.Where agents work for clubs,try to muscle in on deals that doesn't involve them and try to buy and sell players that are not their clients.
We know David Moyes wants to bring in a striker and maybe a wide player as well.I am sure he probably has made enquiries about twenty players or more.
As Adam Johnson has become a peripheral player at City last season it would make sense just to register an interest.I am sure he has done the same about others as well with just as little liklehood of success,but then once in a wonder suddenly something happens and an opportunity occurs.
