Confirmed Signing Josh King

Unless we sell Kean (or guarantee the sale for the summer), and manage to shift Tosun, Bernard etc, then probably not.

my point was, would buying King for a nominal fee, paying him 60-70k a week, just eat into funds that could mean we could go and get someone of Bailey’s ilk in the summer? So would a loan for someone right now be better as not to eat into that (though of course you have that issue of a player on loan needing to be of the quality required).

I think we should gamble this month. We should go and push our necks out and if the plan is to go and spend big on a forward player in the summer then honestly try and bring that forward - shift players if needs be to do it. We might not get another chance like this for a long while

Considering we're currently 4th, yes.

Feel free to come up with realistic suggestions?
On the top of my head, players like Draxler and Depay are also in their last months of their contracts. Not sure i would want them, but they both bring a lot more to the table than King and can play in similar positions. If we went and signed Draxler, that would show a lot more intent than Josh King, dont you think?

He's just come back and scored two goals and got an assist in the FA Cup so reckon he's probably fit now.

Unsure who else you lot think is attainable for us in January to help the squad push to Europe.

Should have just kept kean then, cause he scored goals against lower league teams as well.

Oh, so did tosun at the weekend as well. (Oldham are 2 leagues below Bournemouth so an even bigger jump)

It's short term thinking and that's not what we are trying to do. As we end up with loads of rubbish that fans complain about all the time. King will just be another in a list if sub par players that we can't shift.

We need to be bringing in players that offer us long term or direct first 11 impact. King doesn't offer either.

If you want a name like Draxler that sells shirts, you'll have to fight clubs like Arsenal for him. That will likely get expensive.

If you see Brands quit dickering and get serious about shifting players, you'll know something's up.

Like i said in my post, i dont really want either of the players i mentioned. I see them as luxury players. My point was, there are other forwards available to sign ‘for free’, and you dont have to look long to find them. If i had to choose, Id get a Draxler or a Depay over a Josh King 10 out of 10 times. If we are to sign players in their late twenties, they should bring real quality, something King doesnt have.

But King has 50 goals in the PL, Kean and Tosun don't. Stopped reading after that.

I don’t think there’s any point to signing someone like him. He’s not good enough for where we want to go, and he’d just need upgrading in another year or two. Would rather lash Tosun on for now and buy someone worthwhile in the summer.

I was honestly all for him last window, less so now.

Still think he would be a decent signing, but I wanted him for the season, not 6 months.

Hes actually less attractive now, given how close we are to the promised land.

But our options arent amazing.

A player with experience in the league, able to play all across the front, hes ideal, but his digits arent what we need.
