I think CA is only looking for adequate cover and not another major signing. King fits the bill very well but not even sure if King would be content to be cover and sit on the bench

I suppose it depends on whether he's willing to back himself doesn't it?

If he thinks he can force his way into the team then it's worth the gamble to him

That's the mindset you'd hope he'd have anyway

If he's happy to come and sit on a bench then he's probably not what we're looking for

Agree he has to have the correct mindset but he will know he has to fight his way in and will start on the bench. Just cannot see him becoming a first choice and will only get minutes from the bench in the event of injury or poor form

Still cannot get excited about King and rather we hang on for January.

There won’t be many decent players available in January, not many clubs will let quality players leave half way through a season.

if we want a quality striker we will have to wait until the summer which is risky do, so if the price is right ......

We will not get top 6 with Josh King upfront for any stretch of time. There’s two scenarios here. If a first team player is out for a week or two then w shave back up in place. If a first team player is out long term then it doesn’t matter if that backup is Gordon or Josh King we ain’t doing anything if our main source of goals gets a long term injury. Successful teams have to go largely injury free. That’s why this King debate is silly, if we end up in a situation where he is playing every game then we’re not making top6.
We did with Marcus Bent. We are not going to sign someone whose quality whose only roll is as a back up striker. Spurs have struggled for years to get one to cover for Kane.

The moral of the 04/05 story is that nearly every player was fit all season. We just kept rolling with virtually the same team all season except Gravesen swapping out for Arteta.
