We could play a 3 with Holgate or Gmblammo in defence.
Or any 3 of Gomes, Gmblammo, Delph, Davies, or Viking in midfield.
Its not Brazil 1970, but its a joke to say we only have the players for 4231.
I didnt say we only have players for 4231.
What I said, or intended to say is that;
A -- Each managerial appointment has a totally different style than the last. So the players are all going to need to either adapt or be changed...it makes more sense to hire someone who can use the players we have.
B -- Only Mina (and at a stretch Keane) is the centre back on the books who can be considered above average. In centre midfield we have the wildly inconsistent Gomes and the relatively untried Gbamin.
Im not sure what manager could do better with Delph, Schneiderlin, Davies as the alternate centre midfield options.
C -- Jose is awesome, however he would be in a hotel room for how long? Every side hes left has been worse for it...but is that because hes amazing or because he let them go stale.
What we need, whether its Jose, Gallardo, Silva or whoever else is far superior players in key positions.
With Jose he always brings in a new spine to a team -- thats one major plus as we do need a CB / CM / CF. However, surely this should be Brands job in Jan + summer to add these players to the squad.
For me, with the focus being on South Americans (it seems) as well as players not getting games in the top sides we should be looking at a South American coach who can integrate the players together and conjure up a new style of play using the squad we have now and adding in some potential superstars currently off the radar.
That man is Marcelo Gallardo.
October 23rd is the final of the copa libertadores and we should hold onto Silva until then (at least) and then make our move.
