In all seriousness, he's completely right. They have unreasonable expectations - the side was in decline in the latter stages of Alex Ferguson, then collapsed under Moyes and they haven't been in the mix in a serious way since.

That's all Mourinho is saying. They don't have the squad, and it'll take time to turn that squad around, and in the meantime he's about the most proven manager in world football to do it. Get off his case and give him time to do his job - his track record has earned it. It's not like he's a Koeman or a makeweight like Allardyce is it?

Realism has to come into play. 2nd in the league after all. You'll be challenging City seriously inside two years if you give Mourinho time.

Ya, definitely beyond expectation to expect a squad with that outlay to get past Seville.

I'd say it was the manner that irked their fans more than anything, they were abysmal in both games.

Probably better for Jose and United in the long run, Bayern would have walloped them.
 
I too watched it and wondered if Rafael Benitez has taken over his brain. Admittedly it was partly because I think Mourinho is hot. Feel free to judge me. :oops:

If he wins them the FA Cup and they finish 2nd how can anyone say it hasn't been a progressive season for them? I get that he's spent a fortune on players but winning the title takes time, especially when a lot of other clubs competing against you have vast wealth as well. The United fans and pundits who are currently cry arsing over the supposed "boring" brand of football are unbearable. They should be reminded of how they considered themselves better than the likes of Newcastle, the RS and Arsenal for years, because whilst they all had sides that played great stuff, hardly ever did anyone beat United to the title and so they always got the last laugh.

The winning mentality that was etched so deeply in the club was what mattered most, that by hook or by crook United would win the prizes at the end no matter what happened during the season. That's what was lost when Ferguson retired and what Jose is slowly but surely trying to bring back to them now. To the ex-players who are busy pissing and moaning on TV about his style of play they should instead back him and actually dig out certain players who care more about money and selfies rather than being the best.

Throwing his players under the bus for their poor performance, blaming everyone except himself as usual. Heard this before somewhere:

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said his players were "scared to play" and questioned their "personality" in the FA Cup win over Brighton.

He said: "We didn't play as I wanted them to play; we didn't play as I prepared the team to play."

Mourinho added: "We deserved to win, clearly - we had the match under control - but we didn't play well. Sometimes there is a contradiction between what you work on in the past two days and what you did on the pitch.

"That is more frustrating than the result. Once more I wasn't happy with the connection in the build-up. I blame everybody."
 
What’s he playing at?

Is he trying to get himself sacked?
Is it a strange attempt at motivating his players?
I can understand his 12 minute rant to deflect from the Sevilla defeat, but after winning 2-0 in the Cup to then slate your players again - what’s that all about?

Maybe he feels he needs to sell the idea that his players aren’t up to the job to cover the fact that Pep is running away with the league and is favourite for the UCL.
 
I can't stand Maureen. Had he come to City I wouldn't of renewed my season ticket. I can't deny his past success as a manager, he played a tactical blinder on denying your arch enemy their 'entitled' league win at klanfield. But nowadays, he's become an embarrassment to himself, and Man-ure FC.

When he sent Pogbad on v Seville, he barked instructions in a scornful way without giving him eye contact. He is not a man manager and will not get the best out of his players with his poor attitude towards them. The difference between him and Guardiola is as stark as the cliche chalk and cheese. Pep is getting the most out of our players as they enjoy playing for him. Maureen is losing the dressing room, particularly since Sanchez came in on silly salary. Pogba and his agent were instantly jealous of this and will want pay parity.

But I find it interesting that since Sanchez signed, he has not had a good game, scoring one goal on the rebound from a penalty. Pogba has gone from bad to worse, and is regressing so fast, they will be lucky to recoup 90 quid, nevermind 90 mil. Too many ego's in the dressing room that Maureenio cannot control. Either him or Pogbad won't be there next season.

Look at the state of Man Utd just two years ago. He knows how to build a side that doesn't fear anyone.

You run through a brick wall for him or you get sold.

I prefer Guardiola's style of football but admire Jose Mourinho more. What he did with Porto and Inter was phenomenal really.

The media darlings are currently that scruffy idiot across the park and Pochetinno. Neither have won anything in England.

Mourinho silencing his critics yet again.

Man Utd looking good for runners up in the league which is huge progress considering where they were under the Chosen One.

How'd you get on at Sevilla mate?
 
They had a bad result against Sevilla. Teams in the premiership aren't used to playing against Spanish clubs, clubs that are technically strong who keep the ball but also can defend.

It's the same with us. We are generally fine against Italian, French and German teams but suppossedly worse Spanish teams normally school us with their B team.

For Utd at home it's fine playing on the counter against Barca etc but against Sevilla it breeds anxiety.

The biggest issue Jose has is that he's quickly turning into the Big Sam of top teams. He goes to a club and gets results but ultimately is forced out because the fans also want to be entertained.

I also don't think hes a good enough coach to change that. He's a great man manager but we are now living in an era of top coaches - Fergie was right to get out when he did.

BTW with that said we should grab Silva.
