It will be interesting to see what happens here. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Moyes regards Cahill as a striker now who can fill in midfield if needs be rather than the other way round. If that's the case and Yakubu, Saha and Vaughan there, plus Cahill do we need another striker?

He's made a super start to his career here but I'd be surprised if he came in without a striker leaving. We generally play just 1 up front so having 5 possibilities for the position (plus Vic/Lukas and all them) it seems overkill. We've been very unlucky with injuries this season and given our current finances we can't splash £10m on a player on the off chance that we have a similar injury crisis up front next year. Personally I think we need that money spent elsewhere, on a wide player for instance.

Of course he may play so well in the remainder of the season that we move heaven and earth to keep him and allow Saha or Vic or someone to move on.

It certainly does, but lets be optimistic.

What would people think of keeping al five of our strikers and perhaps, loaning out Vic and Vaghan for six months a peice, like we did with the keepers a while back ago!
 

I know, it's only one game so far, but Jo really made an impact on Saturday. If he keeps on improving on this performance, I definately hope we'll use the option to buy. Looking at our current crop of strikers, than there's a lot of quality in there, but most of them are also prone to injury. Really think Jo can become an amazing striker in the Premiership and hopefully he'll fullfill his potential at Everton.
 
I understand that its early days, but personally I cant help but get excited about jo.

Ive heard people tell me that it was only against bolton, But I happen to think a LARGE part of why we were so good against bolton was because of the consumate performance of jo.

I have never seen a striker give such a complete all-round performance on his debut before.

I know yak is/was a reliable goal machine, but at first glance jo has everything in his locker, and at 21 he easily has time on his side to adjust to the premiership if he is willing.

I would be more cautious if he was 27 or so and had learned his trade abroad in a completely different style of football, but he has the skill, and who better to instill a bit of grit to go with it than moyes.

I hope to see him become 1st choice striker regardless of yakubu,saha,vaughan and anichebe.

On the (albeit brief) evidence so far for us and cska (man city notwithstanding) theres nothing to suggest that is beyond him.

Obviously I take it all back if he stinks for the rest of the season, but I dont see it happening.
 

Look, he's currently an Everton striker who isn't injured and who actually scored - a collector's item.

He clearly has the tools, and as inertia says he's young. If nothing else, he should be a huge help the rest of this season.
 
I think he can play with an out and out striker to like the Yak, he has playmaking capabilites and seemed to have vision to thread a ball, and confidence to take players on, he also linked well with with the wingers and spread play.

Maybe we could see him in the hole as a playmaker or as Toccy would say a second striker! :lol:
