Serious question. Did you ever see Banks play?
Yes, he was good, and made THAT famous save vs Brazil, but overall JP is better.
You are entitled to you opinion Ged, but Banks played in the golden era of both English and International football and. Was widely considered by his contemporaries as the best of his day. I genuinely don't see JP as being anywhere near those levels. Yes he is undoubtedly cruelly underrated by the media and by other fan bases, but I personally don't see JP as being better than Banks.

Unfortunately I'm old enough to have seen Banks quite often. He commanded his area far better than Pickford and Pickford has played so many games like last night without a meaningful save to make.
Comparisons in different eras are debates with no end goal ever achieved.

Maybe they should be done Before/After 2000

BTW, what ever the reasons, that was an excellent piece of chicanery by Pickford. Going down and getting the trainers on, knowing Tuchel had nothing to say to him but letting him speak to the rest of the team.

Can only admire naughty behaviour like that

One thing people keep repeating is the notion that for England Pickford has played in many easy games versus poor opposition, as if Banks et al only played against Brazil, Italy and Germany... NOT true.

As mentioned in another reply, Banks did not only play against Germany, Italy, Brazil and the like, it is a common misconception. He also played against "weaker" teams
