Serious question. Did you ever see Banks play?Great keeper, but Gordon Banks he isn't.
Not a mention of this on the BBC website ,if he was playing for the RS they would have been all over it.
Dont agree mate ,he would be only number 4 for Everton after Southall,West and MartynSerious question. Did you ever see Banks play?
Yes, he was good, and made THAT famous save vs Brazil, but overall JP is better.
Unfortunately I'm old enough to have seen Banks quite often. He commanded his area far better than Pickford and Pickford has played so many games like last night without a meaningful save to make.Serious question. Did you ever see Banks play?

You are entitled to you opinion Ged, but Banks played in the golden era of both English and International football and. Was widely considered by his contemporaries as the best of his day. I genuinely don't see JP as being anywhere near those levels. Yes he is undoubtedly cruelly underrated by the media and by other fan bases, but I personally don't see JP as being better than Banks.Serious question. Did you ever see Banks play?

He's kept us in the division season after season,so for that alone definitely the most important.People may argue whether he is the best or not, but right here and now, he is definitely the most important
Comparisons in different eras are debates with no end goal ever achieved.Unfortunately I'm old enough to have seen Banks quite often. He commanded his area far better than Pickford and Pickford has played so many games like last night without a meaningful save to make.

One thing people keep repeating is the notion that for England Pickford has played in many easy games versus poor opposition, as if Banks et al only played against Brazil, Italy and Germany... NOT true.Unfortunately I'm old enough to have seen Banks quite often. He commanded his area far better than Pickford and Pickford has played so many games like last night without a meaningful save to make.
As mentioned in another reply, Banks did not only play against Germany, Italy, Brazil and the like, it is a common misconception. He also played against "weaker" teamsYou are entitled to you opinion Ged, but Banks played in the golden era of both English and International football and.
