2025/26 Jordan Pickford

To be fair that tweet doesn't really reflect what he goes on to say in the article. He's not saying they should drop Pickford at all, he's saying they should give more exposure to someone else in case they end up having to play when it matters. I agree with the basic principle of what he's saying and have said the same myself many times over the years.
Really? I thought it meant that if Pickford was injured/unavailable England shouldn’t play with a keeper at all which would put all this concerted media anti Pickford conspiracy in the bin for good.

Pickford is and deserves to be England’s number one.
However, your critique of Henderson is woeful. Are you suggesting that all three Senegal goals were his fault? His performances for Palace have been excellent for a couple of seasons. He deserves to be number two.
Not suggesting any of the goals were his fault, and it was more in reference to his appearance against a couple of Everton players which certainly hasn't been without it's issues in his time at Palace!

He definitely should be no 2, and no denying that...... Pope, Ramsdale (if ever this was the case) and Trafford I would suggest are miles off. Especially the latter since Donnarumma joined City!

I can't dig out the stats again, but no real co-incidence also that 2 of the keepers who have played have conceded 3 goals in a game in the last 6 months or something whereas the last time this happened with the mainstay was back in 22 or similar. Again, I am sure someone will come out with the stats.

Anyhow, is Henderson worthy of England #2. I would say definitely, based on his Palace form.

I guess frustrations always come out during International breaks as the same old cr*p get's thrown around about how Pickford should be dropped, or the challenge is on blah blah blah.

Pickford is, and rightly so, England's #1.

Think the headline. And below would say something a bit different to me. Pickford has saved at least Three one on ones caused by our own defending. Plus other top saves. He's made the last part based on something right now that is not true at all. Reporters use stats and not watch the games to come up with silly reports - Reporter even claims its not his headline . Why not use a totally different headline to suggest who should be number 2 etc

That

And given Pickford’s statistically poor start to the season – his decent display against Crystal Palace notwithstanding – it is possible this is the season he loses that iron-clad grip on his place.

And this
By next summer, there could be significant clamour for Henderson to start, on current form.

Yes I suppose if you ignore what the article is actually about and just pick out little snippets then you might think that. I'm not sure why you would do that, but you could.

In Truth, its just another round about way for another reporter to have a little dig about why Pickford is number 1 is the truth. Not the 1st, wont be the last. As said i dont care about International football one bit, but gets pretty ridiculousl with all this Pickford and England stuff. No doubt if he breaks the record or gets the most caps. it will be reported like he's played no one or the clean sheets were against rubbish teams

Yep - he says Pickford is the clear number 1, but we need to use these games to work out who is a suitable deputy

No disrespect to any of the other keepers but JP is miles ahead of any of them.
The media really need to come up with something different to fill pages of adverts during international breaks.
