Wonder what the truth about his contract is.

Cant be relegation concerns as there could be a release clause inserted...cant be wages as they were seemingly agreed months ago.

Seems very strange.

Games against Newcastle and Liverpool aren’t as big as World Cup games and games we must win or we’re relegated. He was absolutely brilliant at the end of last season. United Chelsea at home, Leicester away, all single goal wins that we got because he was pulling off save after save. We were down last season if he’d been even average in the run in.
Mostly saves he should be making as any keeper worth their salt would do. It's the basics that let him down continuously, his footwork, his positioning, his ability to command his box, when he goes into panic mode when an opponent goes to close him down and sometimes aren't even close to him. As regards to world cup games being bigger than a Merseyside Derby! Well not to me they're not. Never have been and never will be.

Your first two sentences are a contradiction. He makes the saves he should make but he doesn’t get the basics right? One doesn’t follow the other.
Watch the end of last season again and tell me how they’re saves he should be making? That’s the problem Pickford has, anything good he does and it’s derided as ‘that’s what he should be doing’, any time he makes a mistake and it’s like he’s the first keeper to ever make a mistake.

If he`d played to the high standards some people only see from him earlier in the season we would n`t have been in the mess we were in. He can produce stunning save after stunning save to back up his fans view of him being ace, but you can see him flapping at crosses, not dealing with corners, and has habit of pushing the ball back into dangerous areas when he does pull off a good save (often straight to an opposition player).

Hopefully it's just Everton taking a step back, realising we are absolutely crap and deciding not to pay players 100k a week.

There's not one player in this squad worth 100k a week, Pickford included in that. We are absolutely dreadful and relegated or not, need a complete reset because we simply can't afford to be paying players over 50k a week to spend 75% of the season in a relegation fight.

It was impossible to keep up the form he had at the end of last season for a whole season. No goalkeeper in the world can play that well for that long not making any errors and pulling off match winning saves every game.

Pickford was by no means our problem last season. He was very poor before Carlo dropped him for Olsen. Since then though he’s been probably our most consistent and best player.

Some Everton fans will just never get over the Origi moment though, too embarrassing for them because their mates laughed at them and they didn’t get a pat on the head from Carragher and Neville on Sky. So they’ve just spent their time since slagging him off no matter how well he’s playing.

Who was our Player of the year last season?

People don`t have it in for because of that one error. He`s made plenty of cock ups that have cost us points, and many more that he`s got away with because they didn`t result in goals. We got lots of problem areas that have us so far down the league, don`t score enough, back four not solid enough, midfield bit of a mess, and a keeper that can drop a clanger and cost us a game at any moment.
Just check out Spurs away this season when he failed to deal with a shot and then rugby tackled Kane to give them a peno. Chelsea at home he made 3 big errors, but got away with them as they didn`t result in goals.

Agree 💯. I don’t get this ridiculous ‘but but well he plays for England’ as an excuse to avoid any criticism.

Didn’t he literally save us a point in the home derby this season? Or what about his save from Salah to effectively cost them a league title in 18/19? How about the save from the Henderson volley at Anfield under Carlo for our first win there in absolutely ages or his save against Salah in the same game.

‘But he never turns up agaisnt der Reds tho’

Go watch the rest of the keepers in the league, Alisson is held as probably the best of the lot and I can show you at least 5 goals he's been badly at fault for.
Lloris is a WC winner and I can probably find 10 mistakes from him leading to goals.
De Gea the same.
And these are the keepers at the top clubs.
Gone are the days of keepers being a safe set of hands, a lot of that has been compromised by managers wanting a sweeper keeper, and I get the point that that style doesn't really suit teams that done play football (go direct/don't play out from the back).
There's a reason Pope has got next to no caps for England even though he's consistently a far better shot stopper than Pickford.
