2017/18 Jonjoe Kenny

Kenny is not the tallest, which maybe part of the reason Koeman doesn't play him (he may yet) as much as we thought he would , with Baines on the other side and Gana in midfield we would have three short guys to "hide" at set pieces.

What Kenny has shown is that he's a very positive attacking full back, much more so than Martina who arguably is at this stage better defensively , certainly more experienced. My thinking would have been to play Kenny in the first leg at home, create more attacking options and goals , and Martina in a likely hostile away game where we would be more defensive. Guess that's why I'm not Everton's manager.
My concern really is that the young defenders don't get the same opportunities for minutes when they're on the bench as the young attackers do. DCL; Lookman;Dowell are all game changers from the bench and have chances to get on if we are playing poorly. Kenny; Holgate; Connolly are less likely to get on even when they make the bench, you don't substitute Baines or Martina in a competitive match unless injured or utter gash that day.

I don't think Martina is better at anything if I'm honest, Kenny might not have got roasted 5 times by a Slovakian carpet fitter.

so signing coco to cover an inexperienced rightback wasnt the real reason he was brought in, as all the supporters of bringing him in claimed.
coco is our rightback until coleman is fit.
we're in for a long hard season with coco and williams in our back 4.

..Kenny actually came through the ranks as a CB. He is small but he's also quite decent in the air. Saying that, you could be right. You could see the likes of Benteke dropping into his space for crosses and this could well be what is putting Koeman off.

we'll see how coco copes against the likes of benteke, the signs arent good.
holgate is also lacking in the air imo

don't worry that cuco was starting against this Slovakian team, Kenny is part of the bigger picture someone said HAHAHAH

fck me going to be a long 6 months until coleman is back with this donkey playing

I sincerely hope that isn't the case

That reeks of Moyes - remember his preference to play Lescott over Baines at left back because of his fears about Baines being too small and vulnerable in the air? (Why buy him if that's the case? He wasn't ever likely to grow)

Unless you're a Tony Pulis side, you don't really see much of this anymore.

I watched Kenny play CB in a mini derby in Southport a few years ago and he was genuine quality. Browning played right back, then they swapped at half time and Kenny was again excellent as the right back

Pretty certain Kenny is no shorter than Seamus Eggs. And as you say; has a good leap on him.

This whole episode stinks. I felt the worse when Koeman brought Coco in but kept quiet and waited to see how things develop. Now we know.

For me this has undone a lot of the positives from early summer. I feel gutted.

But that still doesn't make sense because he's playing Cuco Martina there who has a 50p head and no positional sense or coordination of his feet to attempt a jump correctly.

Mate, it's been said time and again that 'Coco' is demeaning and offensive yet people continue to say it.

Why don't we just call him a negrito as well while we're at it?

Disgusting.
