To me looks like a carbon copy of a younger Coleman and/or Baines but better defensively than both.

Should be given opportunities to stake his claim for Coleman's place in pre-season before signing another right back as cover.

We have so many positions in urgent need of strengthening that right back can wait for me. Get the other positions sorted first (keeper, Centre back(s), Striker(s), winger, attacking midfielder), give Kenny a good run of pre season games and if Koeman is then still not sure, chase a right back later in the window.

Kenny should be given some time in pre-season to prove that he and Holgate are able to deputise until he returns. Kenny has looked classy on every occasion I've seen him in the last few years, but now he's starting to look close to first team standard.

Think people get a bit carried away sometimes. Admittedly I'd never watched the under 23's live before last night but it's ridiculous when fans of any club make statments about players who haven't even played a full 90 minutes of football for the first team. Even when they have I think form over 2 seasons in the first team confirms whether a player will truly make it at the top level. I fully expect Davies for example to make it at Everton, but next season will still be a challenge for him as the league gets used to him and there is added pressure on his shoulders.

Back to Kenny though, he impressed me against Norwich, thought he did reasonably well except for one slice on Saturday when he came on and last night he was our 2nd best player in my opinion behind Baningime. He looks accomplished at both the attacking and defensive side which is encouraging.

Hopefully we will get to see a lot more of him next season, especially in the Cup competitions.

i firmly believe his size has stopped him getting more first team chances up to now, he has the ability to play PL football. hopefully now hes hitting his 20s he'll be a lot stronger to deal with the physical side of top PL attackers.

Ah, yeah it was the penalty I was thinking of.

And agreed about size - he looked quite stocky and strong in person at the Swansea game, didn't look out of place to me, so perhaps he's bulked up a bit.

In general I think the stand out performers at under 23 level are in or about ready to fight for a first team place.

First team football is obviously played at a far higher standard and most young players have a period where they may be too good for one grade but not quite good enough yet for the other.
There are a few notable exceptions like Kenny and Holgate/Calvert-Lewin to a degree.
Kenny is being introduced gradually and I think management feel that they will learn very little extra by keeping him back from international duty to play in the last two games.

The transfer window will tell us a lot about how Kenny is rated. Seamus probably won't be ready until after next Christmas. Will a right full back be signed or will Kenny and Holgate be trusted there until Seamus comes back.

I didn't analyse his game last night to be honest but i thought he looked very good and looked much better than his fellow defenders.

I believe he may well make it in the first team, especially as an understudy to Coleman. He has the attacking talent, he probably just needs to make sure he has the defensive side of it also.

If i remember correctly, Galloway did play a bit of CB and he did the job there when we asked him. I agree that people are jumping the gun though. Galloway and Holgate had the same problems at wing back, whereas Kenny looks more comfortable in that position. Galloway and Holgate are CB's that need to put on some muscle to compete for a spot back two. Hopefully Kenny is the real deal

Been watching Kenny since he was involved in the England U17Euros win - he coolly struck the winning penalty in the final shootout which gives you another glinmpse into his character.

Mind you was impressed with Ledson then to and he was the captain of both club and country ahead of Kenny at that point and Ryan seems to have slipped off the rails for a brief period (although thankfully doing well at Oxford now) so you never can tell how things will pan out.
