Jonjoe Kenny

I'm sure he is a good lad. I have no reason to dislike the man. All I can say is that the evidence before my eyes tells me that he simply lacks the requisite quality to enjoy a successful long-term Premier League career. Jonjoe himself has already been successful - Everton pay him a small fortune every week to be the weakest of links in the weakest of teams. But if Everton wish to prosper in the Premier League, they need better than Jonjoe - even as a squad player.
Fair response Pal but you need depth and players who can offer that. For me JJK has enough about him to play in that role for us. I mean who knows. He has already said he does extra drills in his off time and maybe he can really push on and prove a lot of people wrong. Considering the cost of replacing him I can't see another option who can do what he does for the money he costs.

That's fine, but the consequence of that course of action, in my view, is another season of abject struggle and possible relegation. If you have too many players of Championship standard, you eventually find your level. We may be just about to find out if we have already reached a tipping point on that score.

I mean what you are talking about is up to the manager and team as a whole. Also the fans need to play a part and they have in recent weeks really stepping up and now finally the club are opening a dialogue and relationship with the fans which is far behind what it should be so good on Lampard for that.

….he’s a very ordinary footballer who lacks quality in possession, lacks athleticism and powers of recovery (run past him & he’s totally out of the game). Kenny offers little defensively & even less in the top third.

We currently have two RBs ahead of him in the pecking order, Patterson & Coleman. Behind them Stanley Mills is highly rated, terrific attitude (like his Dad) and mobility. A converted winger, what he lacks defensively he makes up for in the attacking third. I’d say he already offers more than Kenny. As for LB, we have Nkounkou back next season.

There is no need to extend Kenny’s contract & certainly no need to replace him.

Im very much on board with this, the lad is dead keen, a blue, full blooded, he unfortantely just doesnt have the ability or quality to play for us at this level.

Thats really sad and i wish he did, but unfortunately he doesn't.

When he came on against Leicester for the final half hour my anxiety increased by 50% .

Hope he does find a level and enjoys a good career at it.

Exactly. Why not have versatile backup with experience in multiple European leagues. I still think there is more to JJK than we have seen but based on only what we have seen he can do a job. If I was him I would spend the whole summer working on technique, crossing and control under pressure drills to give himself the best chance at moving forward in his career.
Simply because he’s not good enough! He’s 25 years old now, if he still hasn’t sorted his technique, crossing etc that must tell you something?

The alternative may be burning actual transfer money on a player to sit on the fringes and not play.

The judgement will have to be can they get someone for no money and similar salary who they feel is better?

Squad players by their nature are not as good as the regular first team players.

My problem is not with JJK, it’s with players like Gomes, Tosun, Gbamin and Delph etc who earn first team wages and should offer much more than they do. That’s where the problem lies.

But would you be happy next season if we had an injury at full-back and Kenny was the option? If not, then we may just have to spend money.

I don’t want to spend any money on backup fullback positions. I think we have far more pressing issues at CB and CDM. We probably need at least three players in those positions.

Fullback really isn’t a priority. Cheap cover is sensible. Put it this way, if he leaves, I wouldn’t replace him. If he stays, he adds depth to the squad.
