Because we can’t keep depending on Seamus
Patterson really needs to be first choice next year or it was a really bizarre signing. If that’s the case then we’re not really ‘depending’ on Coleman we’re just asking him to be back up. I’m a massive fan of his and have defended him a lot but if he can’t do that he needs to retire because we’re paying him a fortune and just not playing at all would be taking the mick.

There’s no justifiable reason to extend JJK’s contract, let it expire in the summer, let Coleman gradually step back and bring an experienced RB in with Patterson as back up
We have spent on Patterson, we won’t be bringing in another right back. It will be him and Coleman next season.

We will likely need a centre back, defensive midfielder, box to box midfielder, and replacements for Richarlison and DCL. This will all have to be done on a limited budget. We won’t be paying for more right backs!!

What does this matter?

“The Homegrown Player Rule is an initiative of the English Premier League to allow for more domestic players to be developed from an earlier age in the hope of nurturing more homegrown talent. It forms part of the League's Elite Player Performance Plan. The Premier League proposed a maximum of 17 non-"homegrown" players in each club squad, and the squad size is a maximum of 25. This means that in a full squad of 25 players, there must be at least eight homegrown players.”

We aren’t struggling to meet that.

….if we want a homegrown back-up to the back-up, Stanley Mills is already a better option than Kenny. He’s athletic, aggressive & he’s a genuine threat in the top third. He’s not the best defender but neither is Kenny.

I would be absolutely mortified if we gave Kenny a new deal. It takes some doing to be the worst player in a team as terrible as this one and he's managed to achieve that with flying colours.

As a club, we must stop rewarding mediocrity as a matter of urgency.

This is a club that gave Jose Baxter an actual paid coaching role so he could tell the young players not to become a raging beak head like him.

A new contract for JJK is the reality of the mess Moshiri has made, blowing all that money on rubbish means we cant just let him go and throw money at another club for a replacement, not unless we sell a few.
I fully expect his contact to be very cheap by PL players standards
Anyway he had one good game recently, Iwobi has turned fans opinion in his favor right now, JJK has to do that same.... if he can
