Join me in the spirit realm.

Whilst scrambling under the stairs for a bag of laces, as you do, I came across a bottle of sloe gin. I noticed that it was from October 2022, and purely in the name of scientific research, and to see if it actually improves with age, I decided to have a shot. Dear reader, it does, it's absolutely magnificent. The moral of these musings ? Make many bottles this year so some will be left for future years, and the same for Damson gin, which I prefer.

Because of work, I have visited countless distillery's and breweries. Ironically I don’t drink spitits and every whisky I’ve ever tasted is exactly the same.

I do enjoy a good bourbon, though. Or my “had too much beer” go to is usually a Southern Comfort.

Categorically false outside your personal spere of experience. Laphroing tastes nothing like Glenmorangie other than the alcohol burn non-whiskey drinkers complain about. But they're the folks that talk about how "smooth" a whiskey is, which is nothing to do with taste.

Funnily enough, they all taste pretty much the same to me.

Johnnie Walker Princes Street and McConnells in Belfast are worth a visit though, purely from an experiential point of view.
