John Heitinga says his first season at Goodison has been so enjoyable that he feels a true Evertonian.
The Dutchman has impressed since his arrival in August 2009 from Atletico Madrid, with his performances winning him the Player of the Month award for March.
"I think for me this has been the perfect season," he exclusively told evertonfc.com.
"I came over from Spain and with all the boys we have had a good season. I am really looking forward to next season at Everton."
Heitinga came on off the bench during the last game of the season against Portsmouth on Sunday and set up Diniyar Bilyaletdinov's sensational winner.
It was the first time the 26-year-old had featured since limping off against Aston Villa in April with a hairline fracture on his ankle.
Despite knowing his World Cup campaign with the Dutch national side was just weeks away, Heitinga was determined to run out in front of the Goodison crowd.
"I really wanted to play against Portsmouth. I wasn't 100% fit because of my injury and it was a little bit of a risk.
"Since day one though the fans here have welcomed me and they treat me like I am one of them," he added. "I am proud to now be an Evertonian and I wanted to thank them."
Heitinga has been named in Holland's 26 man provisional squad for the World Cup.

just read this on the OS, have to say I like the guy he has settled right in and gives everything on the pitch.
With young Jack and Tim both signing up for the next four years, and LCAB is sure Arteta will sign, young Seamus flying at Blackpool and back next season, a fully fit Jags, Baines signed up and even though it looks uncertain weather Pienaar will return the future still looks very bright
