Best English Centre back in the richest league by a million miles, Best young English player in a league where the rich teams are struggling for the home grown quota, £50m for a woeful Brazilian, £49 million for a utter [Poor language removed] with zero moral character and a reputation for beating up girls, start at those figures and double it.

I don't see a price that would be acceptable to be honest, it only changes if john Stones asks to go, then it's 60 million + add ons.

but if we agree to sell then the message to the rest of the league will be catastrophic for the immediate future of the club

Its the first time I've looked at a player and realised the figures just don't add up.

Rooney at the time - gutted but look at that money.
Lescott and Felli - well we got value out of them for a few years before they went so its well played to the club.

But with Stones, different than say Barkley in a way- any amount of money just doesn't seem worth it.

30, 40, 50... Silly money doesn't seem to equate to what we'd achieve by keeping him.

Totally agree. Everton's balance sheet is certainly no longer 'creditor vulnerable'...so what price a player who represents the future of the club? To be honest, despite GOT's resident worry warts' clamorings to the contrary, I genuinely believe the powers that be at EFC are equally aware of this. Unless he requests it, Stones won't near time be transferring anywhere*.

*Bottom line though : Everton needs to start being successful.

I just can't imagine him leaving. Is this what it was like when Rooney left?

For me personally no, Rooney was talked about for years as a teenager coming through and being a top class player. He finally gets there and then we ship him off, I was devastated but then I was also a young lad.

Stones has only really been talked about for the last 2 years max but I think it will be a similar feeling due to his massive potential and the fact we all see him as our future captain for years to come.
