Pickford only gives up 3 or 4 tonight. That doesn't mean our backline isn't crap, it is. But Robles isn't good at all. The fact that he can't get out on balls better off set pieces or understand better how to position himself on corners is poor.

Would he have double saved that pen ?
We needed floorboards to board the goal up on that performance players outfield really need to ask questions of themselves!

Seriously Joey you have been defending the defence for weeks in the Pickford thread.

Do you not get how ridiculous you look now?

Who knows? Pickford is terrific on low shots and PKs are pretty much guesswork. Robles did great there, no question. But he'd have saved quite a few more. His distribution would've helped possession a bit and sprung a counter or two against those slow defenders.

Again, Joel isn't the worst keeper ever, but Jordan is quite a bit better. He's been saving our tails all year.

@Joey66

Your criticism of Pickford this season has been on the basis that we wouldn't be conceding as much if we had Joel in net.

Joel got a run out tonight and conceded 5, at home.

It's hugely apparent at this stage that is a problem which goes far deeper than who is stood between the posts, it's defensive woes, confidence problems, tactical issues, etc.

Pickford is a better keeper than Joel, I don't have any doubt about that.

I have not been critical all the time about Pickford he is our no 1 - it did him a good service tonight to get a rest confidence wise Robles saved a pen saved us from a ten 1 defeat - that was the worst 11 Everton players out there bar three or so!
