Joel Robles

In that split second eggs when Martial raced through to slot I actually thought Joel would not be beaten. Like you said, one v one he's a giant frame and quite imposing.

One of the very few positives of the season.

I had the same moment of optimism. He's made some unreal 1-on-1 stops last few weeks, he's excellent at getting big and getting SOMETHING on it.

Why do you write an essay, when the obvious is there on the subject?
Are you related to the banned great Dithering Doug?
The only obvious thing is that we've been just as awful as a team with Robles in goal as we have been with Howard in goal despite Robles playing quite well. This despite everyone declaring for months that the only thing holding the club back was goalkeeping.

Flawed logic there though. It assumes that since Robles came in goal, nothing else could have changed at the club/team, which is obvious nonsense. For a lot of the season we looked on the verge of 'clicking'. Since February we've looked total rubbish.

Straight swap of Robles for Howard at the start of the season and we'd be higher in the league, no two ways about it.

Robles got us to 40 points - in that team In a team who had gone flat manager lost the dressing room Timmy would have not -,Timmy cost us 12 points when the team was playing fantastic football can you not see that point???????

I see what your saying.. Howard made us play better...

Poor results in the first 23 games = Goalkeepers fault. Poor games in the following 11 = Defense's fault. Got it. Thanks.

Its the Keepers fault when he's making individual, why cant you people grasp that?!

What individual errors has Joel made?

Tim Howard single handedly lost us the Arsenal game at The Emirates, and theres more than just that Arsenal game.

Literally only errors I can think for Joel are the ones against West Brom (No mans land for their goal) and the first in the derby (Felt he could have done better.)

Bar that, he's been fine.

Whereas if we take a look at Howard: https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/joel-robles.77966/page-107#post-4193202

Chelsea away 2-0 up look at their first goal Tim Howard the Coward ran out, and managed to miss the ball, and two players CO Co the Clown of a keeper!
23 points I reckon he cost us early season when we were playing well!

Howard in 23 games --- 6 wins, 6 losses, 11 draws. We got points in 73% of the games and won 26% of them.
Robles in 11 games --- 3 wins, 5 losses, 3 draws. We got points in 54% of the games and won 27% of them.

I understand the sampling size is different, but there's nothing impressive in either. Neither goalkeeper is good enough for Everton, in my opinion. Defense has been horrendous for two seasons now, it's not like they just started being crap when Robles got in goal. I just think blaming Howard for the first 23 games is a bit harsh. I also think if we had left Howard in net, our results would have been nearly identical to what they are (though the fume would have reached unprecedented levels).
