Joel Robles

He will not have a quarter of a successful career as Howard has.

Howard is finished, we can all see that but the Everton manager still has him as the number one. I'd be surprised if Robles is still with us in two years, he might be reserve to the new keeper next season.
You spout your rhetoric but Robles at the moment is a better keeper than once a shot stopper Tim! That is all he ever has been as SAF would have kept him!
I have seen class Keepers with the blues since the 1960's , and our reserve keeper under The great Gordon West got a chance , and is a far better keeper than Tim was Andy Rankin!
Big Nev was our world class keeper - Tim is not fit to be anything like him!

What?

His biggest achievements were no doubt retaining Wigans premiership status for so long with a diminishing transfer and wage budget whilst producing some fine footballing teams capable of it.

Not a lucky one off win against a superior footballing team after defeating the likes of Bournemouth, Huddesfiled and Millwall to reach a final. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Wigan Football Club would have taken a defeat in that final and beating Arsenal 3 days later to secure their premiership safety. Probably why he choose he's inferior keeper in truth, hoping he'd be fit for the crucial game at the Emirates to help keep them up.

I could write a paragraph on different reasons an FA cup final is/was biggest achievement but I'll just take the.long.and lazy route and let see how history will look back on it.

If you read my posts, I've said Howard is finished. I'm not comparing him to anyone of the past, so no idea why you are bringing keepers like Nev into it.

Robles is the equivalent of Bobby Mimms, a reserve keeper. Anyway, you stated earlier that people thought Robles would be better than De Gea? You have yet to name them, instead you have insulted Tim Howard. Which is funny, as I don't care one iota for him.

Think you may be missing out one result from Wigan's march to the FA cup win mate, 3-0 at Goodison - unless you think that such a result wasn't worth listing?

As for Howard, yeah we all get it mate, you rate him, ten million posts saying the exact same thing isn't going to change the mind of people who have either never rated him beyond bang average or who think that he is a shell of the keeper he was at his peak.

Trying to make out that it's obvious that we have more chance of beating City and then winning a final should Howard be in goal is comical btw, Wasn't it home against City that Howard donned his clown shoes and huge rubber hand and effectively threw City the game, yeah will feel MASSIVELY more confident with him in goal - watch the near post though Tim please lol

Erm we were awful that day and anyone would have beaten us.

Fact is I stated they were in the same Spanish youth team set up, in fact at the time it was thought Robles was ahead of Degea if he turns out half as good as him it's better than Tim Coward!
I've heard this strange myth before. Where exactly have you got this information from? According to widely available stats, David De Gea made 70 appearances for Spain's various youth sides, in comparison to Joel's 4. De Gea became his club's first choice keeper at the age of 18, at which point Joel was not even his back up. There is absolutely no comparison between the two. At all.

why do you post to defend him then surely you should be pushing for a reserve keeper who keeps clean sheets, and can command his penalty area , and distribute the ball better than him funny the amount of post you have condemning Robles - my argument is lets see him properly in a proper run in the team, and then judge him, because what I have seen so far is far from bad!

This lie again, Robles has never ever been ahead of De Gea. Robles has hardly even played any representative football. Something like 2 full games

Hahahahahahahahahaha Doug's just said that winning the club's first ever trophy wasn't a big achievement, and keeping them up was bigger even though Steve Bruce and Paul Jewell managed it comfortably, that's it I'm done, see ya
