Joel Robles

Joel did massively flap at those 2 balls which nearly cost us 2 goals.

Hes not good enough to be our number 1 and never will be.

Some people are so easily pleased when they see a couple of semi decent saves made to look better than they are.

If that is the standard were happy with then we deserve to be fighting it out at the bottom with the dregs of the league!

And you know this how?

But he doesn't does he ?

He does though. Just because its not always a glaringmy obvious one doesn't make it any less true.

Yesterday's game I can count at least 3 off hand and more if I analysed the game and rewatched I'm sure.

2 obvious ones. Came for the ball at his near post. Got nowhere near it. Had to be cleared off the line. The other ball in he just flapped it straight back into the danger area.

Another where Coleman was in trouble and he offered absolutely no help and Coleman had to just smash it out... Then rightly had a right go at Joel.

So many moments like that where Joel needs to be on his toes. ready to come out and get there before defender and attacker. but he stays rooted.

For some reason there's a bit of a Joel love in right now and I just cant see why.

Stones is the reason we have improved a bit defensively.

Well, no, he doesn't but hey ho.

What was your opinion of Jags clearance off then line yesterday? Or the cross a few minutes latter that lead to a big scramble and Palace shooting wide?

Or how about the City game when Aguero and Silva both missed easy shots in the first half as Robles hugged the post and left a gaping goal, or even the goal they scored were he rushed our from his line and the knocked it over him to be headed into a am empty net.

Or the West Ham game again leaving a huge side of the goal unattended as Valencia shot past him. Or when he failed to claim the cross into the box and sailed under it as Cole scored?

Let's be realistic about him, he's crap but people are only relieved because he's not been as crap as they expected all the time, but these incidents have cost us and there many more.

He could keep a clean sheet in every single one of our remaining games and he'd still be slated by the haters

He kept a clean sheet yesterday but that was down to Jags bailing him out with a great clearance and Palace not having their shooting boots on. He's adequate cover at best but he's not got the concentration or consistency to be our number 1 keeper.

Not me, seems like he always needed game time which he did not get while Howard was available. But IMO we need another GK now to replace Howard not Robles. Robles is young and I am waiting to see how he pans out over the rest of the season. Problem is, RM will pick Howard over Robles if his fitness returns just like he keeps Barry on the field come rain or high water.

Once again, how do you know? Hes played a handful of games, and no one can dispute hes been getting better by the game.

Lets judge him at the end of the season, think we can all agree the bearded clown should be no more, we cant afford to go out and buy a 20 mil keeper which is around the going rate for a consistently top goalkeeper. Give joel til the end of the season and bring in someone like Nyland to compete with him
