Passing stats from last season:

Have to bare in mind that I doubt teams in Germany and Spain have the same mentality as teams here. Can't see anybody being sent to close either of them 2 keepers down they way teams do over here.

Well that means that he just hoofs the ball and Bravo and Neuer playing it to the nearest defender. But that's probably down to the managers philosophy, maybe Pellegrini wanted him to just send it long but I'm not too sure about that since I haven't really watched how City did that last season.

You are right. I watched the Stoke City game on Saturday and for every goal kick both City's centre halves dropped to the side of the box to collect the ball.

You would think that Hart would be able to adapt his game and have the ability to pass it out from the back but like the Guardian article posted by @MoutsGoat before this has something to do with Pep asserting his presence on the team. Hart has been there for 10 years and seen City change, he has a lot of influence and Guardiola wants to have full control.

Football has changed

Am I really so out of touch?
That's it... I have reached that point in my life, I just don't understand this world anymore..

Which to be fair, is to be expected, the worlds very complicated with an intricate molecular structure and mass of bio organisms, vegetation, minerals, constructed over an unknown period of time featuring a vast tapestry of complex features that no mind truly comprehe... err..

I mean who cares if Hart is good at passing if he keeps clean sheets?

Not saying a goalkeepers passing is more important than a clean sheet, but having a goalkeeper that has good feet definitely adds something to your attack. Just look at Schmeichel, he starts counter attacks frequently with his kicking.

I remember his dad used to throw the ball past the half way line with superb accuracy, but the only thing that really mattered was that he could save the ball, we have players who Hart could short pass the ball to, to ping more accurate passes around if that was the requirement.

It's just down to the manager, isn't it. Everyone obviously want him to keep the ball from the net, but some see the goalkeeper as an element in attack. Like I said before, it just adds a variety when attacking, I wouldn't say it's not beneficial having a keeper who can use both his hands and feet properly.

I obviously wouldn't go out of my way to find a keeper that can't use his feet, but people were making posts as if it defines the quality of the keeper.
