This is also an issue. Can’t hardly feed 4 at McDonald’s for less than that anymore.

I don't blame corporate for that, and obviously multiple factors affect top and bottom line, but ultimately if they keep hiking prices there will be a breaking point for customers. I don't go much, but the wife and I had a bit of a road trip recently and we stopped at McDonalds once for a quick meal. A quarter pounder meal was like $11...I can go to a decent sitdown place for a burger at that price. I get the convenience, but I have to think that breaking point for customers is near given where they are now.

Hadnt gone to MacDonalds in years till we had a kid (I'm celiac). We go a bit now, about once a month, when ever we go on a long trip. Been pleasantly surprised. The app gives us good discounts and points toward free stuff and the kids meal comes with apple slices and milk (tho he lives for their nuggets!)

Also there's not a hope in hell of finding a decent sit down burger around here for $11. Be lucky to come in under $20 for burger, fries, soda, and tip.

Haven’t even considered the app for rewards. Don’t go enough but nice that they offer discounts.

$12.99 for a burger and fries at the diner down the road here. I’m about 20 minutes outside Denver for reference. So no, not quite $11 but it’s well worth the added $2 when deciding between the two options for us. Best option is still just to cook. It’s just a burger after all.

California, the state with the highest income tax rate, is actually going to start taxing cars by the mile they drive because apparently they had too many people go electric after incentivizing the crap out of it, and they’re now missing out on gas taxes. I hate everyone.

I read the proposal more as a way to keep tax revenue for maintenance of roads/highways. A large source of revenue for highways is gas tax, but obviously this doesn't apply to electric vehicles even though they still benefit from driving on state-maintained highways, so another source of revenue is needed to offset the diminishing revenue from a gas tax. Incentivizing electric cars was perhaps their way to deal with air pollution and fossil fuel dependency, but it was inevitable that electric cars would eventually be taxed in some way.

Couldn’t help but think of this

Here's a thought...Use the already inflated taxes they take to solve the problem of losing out on gas taxes instead of thinking you need a new tax. With or without the gas tax, CA residents are already amongst the most heavily taxed citizens in the country, and tbh they don't have much to show for it when it comes to roads, access to care, homelessness and cost of living.

No argument from me on that one. I think many states could do with serious tax reform/rebudgeting etc.

switched to an EV about 6 months ago and reckon I've saved in the region of $1k on gas.
Registration was super expensive tho.
Theres talk about taxing cars by the mile to get around the gas tax.
Also talk of taxing cars by weight. EVs are heavy, Cant imagine how heavy an EV hummer is or who'd even want one.
Have to say, after switching, cant see a time I'd go back to gas.

Polls seem to suggest he's down in all but one of the swing states even after his opponent was found guilty of corruption.

$5 over here for a quarter pounder meal.

Amazing difference in price

My daughter's b/f has just got a job at BK.

So he has access to staff discount, which is a whopping 70% off.

Paid 15 quid the other day for £55s worth of scran.

The mark-up they make is disgusting.
