Current Affairs Joe Biden POTUS #46

I find it amusing that liberals claim to 'hold truth to power', yet they constantly insist on maintaining these powerful media outlets in some privileged class despite them getting everything wrong and lying through their back teeth. If Joe Biden, the President, claims something is true and I, a peasant, claim something is not true. Does the source matter? No. It only matters if the claim is true and not who makes it.

As we have seen even the FBI, a supposedly impeccable source of information according to some of you has been found to be lying and using their influence to pressure people into confessing to crimes that were a pack of lies. The RussiaHoax is thoroughly debunked. It seems the Gateway Pundit got the Russia Hoax spot on or are you denying that to and all your official outlets got it wrong?

The FBI knew RussiaGate was a lie — but hid that truth

As for the vaccines. It seems some mea culpas are coming from some elected officials apologising for prosecuting them and discriminating against them...
Some glorious, refreshing honesty from a politician.

Top Canadian politician apologizes to unvaccinated, “we were wrong…” She makes unprecedented promise…

I find it amusing that you can't be arsed to look beyond anything that you are told.

For a start, if you looked at my posting history on this esteemed forum you'd quickly find that I have no illusions regarding powerful media outlets, for example:

Nor can I recall that many people on here who blindly believe and repeat what an outlet tells them - exceptions being of course you and those previous versions of yourself who turn up here from time to time.

Secondly the Durham report did not "thoroughly debunk" the Russia hoax; in fact even Durham believed an investigation of some kind should have taken place (he just thought a more preliminary one would have been appropriate). He didn't even look into the Mueller investigation - which as already pointed out resulted in multiple convictions. He even pointed out that one of the sources for the material that the FBI started the investigation with was probably a Russian agent (or at least had been in the past).

Exactly this.

The other thing on Biden, is that if this bribe stuff is true, and he gets charged / convicted, I can’t imagine many on here are gonna defend him.

Trumpists have this idea that people are as blindly invested in a politician as they are.

I can’t imagine ever being so totally behind a specific politician, and wouldn’t bat an eyelid if it came to light that a particular politician was on the take, took bribes, was a general wrongun.

Vaulting is a craft, requiring time investment to develop. The far right is like a bunch of baby birds eagerly awaiting their next meal.

The intersection of these Venn diagrams is the empty set. They'll never look.

Anybody know what the definition of a wannabe dictator is?

Arrest and imprison opposition leader for a crime that you have committed yourself?

Enrich yourself and your family whilst your country grows poorer?

Take bribes from other dictators?

Use official bodies to spy on opposition leaders.

Arrest protesters and their families sometimes years later for disagreeing with the regime.

Control MSM and federal institutions?

Not Iran or Russia my friends.

U S OF A

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
You just described your leader and hero Putin, well done. You just missed off "pushing people out of windows"

Right wing media isn't even doing a good job of selling the whole thing. Suppose Burisma put two options on the table:

1) We enable Hunter's drug habit with a large payment. You have to take some of it, so that you're now dirty. Burn the prosecutor for public consumption, fine. You have to do that. Do everything possible to shield us, after that one happens.
2) We burn everything we have to his unhappy spouse, and give her enough to keep him from ever seeing his kids again, which keeps you from ever seeing your grandkids again.

I would buy that as a reason for Biden to behave in an otherwise out of character way, much like Ron Rifkin's federal district court judge in Boiler Room. I would want to see proof of the transaction, of course, but given that I'll accept the explanation. Thing is, right wing media isn't trying to reach me. They're chasing after echo chamber clicks, so they vilify Biden in sloppy ways that don't make a whole lot of sense.

The problem is that they cannot use the two things that the public would be 100% right to be outraged by - that a person (in this case Hunter Biden) got a job to which he was manifestly not entitled due to his political connections, and that a US politician interfered in a foreign country to facilitate that - because that is something that almost everyone is guilty of, especially Trump.

So instead they dance around trying to pretend that a politicians dependents (family and political) getting rewards as the result of the politician's public office is perfectly licit and normal, except in the narrow circumstances when it isn't.

Absolutely correct.

Hire a politician's kid, and sooner or later you probably get some face time via dinner when the politician is in town. As long as the kid won't screw up the responsibilities of the sinecure too badly, this is a fantastic use of lobbying resources. You even get to leverage the natural sympathy of the politician towards the kid's views.

This type of transaction is situation normal these days.
