Current Affairs Joe Biden POTUS #46

Most Democrats don't want Biden to run for re-election. Not necessarily b/c he's been a bad POTUS (he's been pretty good all things considered), but b/c many of us feel the time to move on to younger, more progressive politicians/policies is now.

However, if we don't have a viable replacement, someone like an Obama who can unite the party, then most of us will have no qualms voting for him again if the alternative is Trump or someone like DeSantis.

We are just hopeful that there is another Democratic candidate that will emerge by 2024 that can absolutely take whatever the GOP trots out there behind the woodshed
Has he been good? Honestly not sure what’s really going well for him tbh. His biggest achievement still remains not being Trump which any other candidate also brings. He shouldn’t run again for multiple reasons including his performance in my opinion. Has time to change it still of course but I’m not confident he will.

My short answer is yes, given the complications he’s had to face and the unprecedented pushback he’s had to endure from the opposition party I think he’s done pretty decently overall. He’s going out of his way to reach across the aisle as well, when by this point in time most would have no patience for that

For a longer answer I’ll need to be at work, which will be Thursday

That the Biden admin did not have a strategy/messaging ready to go on a huge policy decision that was telegraphed for weeks is gross politcal malpractice

They sang a song and read out a poem. What more do you want? I'm guessing they must have rehearsed for weeks on "God Bless America", although I thought the tenors could have been more prominent. I wonder what they will sing when gay marriage gets rescinded - something by Abba I would think.

Biden s accomplishments are good but he’s got to get out there more. He’s not rising to meet the moment. The other party is actively trying to destroy democracy; they have set up a dangerously reactionary Supreme Court; they ATTACKED THE F****NG CAPITOL. Biden s got to come out swingin.

Let’s be honest here, Biden has been a disaster….
Not sure what's being honest about that. Using the word "disaster" to describe his presidency, especially following the other guy, seems incredibly hyperbolic

You could use words such as disappointing or average and I'd debate you on that, but to default straight to disaster is laughable

Trump was a disaster.
Biden has been ineffectual.

Biden has overseen the retreat from Afghanistan, and I’m not even going to go on about the damage this did both to the country nor the western alliance. On the plus side, with the U.K., he has aided Ukraine really well, even if slow to the party. I have no real idea what he has done to the USA other than the fact that the country seems more divided than ever. He has insulted his closest ally, the U.K. , by bringing up the fact that he is Irish (his family left 172 years ago) and accused the U.K. of behaving to Ireland as Isreal behaves to the Palestinians. His ignorance is now beyond acceptable. If he is not well I hope he gets better, but the longer he stays away from any levers of power or a microphone the better…I love America and it’s people and my comments reflect the feeling from Americas greatest friends…..
