8 weeks bit better than twelve but still. I agree it's best not to rush him. Real blow for us and the lad. It leaves us short in midfield.

Very frustrating when you consider that the injury didn't even happen in a match, but in training. Maybe he tried to tackle Big Dunc or something. Just hope that Delph does ok and doesn't get injured again now. On another note, Everton need to completely change their policy on transfer windows because this leaving things till the last week is of no benefit whatsoever. You still pay top wack, get players that aren't ready for when the season starts and you are in trouble if any pick up injuries.

We do it every summer, is it an attempt to save money? Are we waiting for one to go out before we bring in? Gbamin should have been in much earlier, Kean and Iwobi too, we are playing catch up every season. Our low intensity/quality preseasons don't help eitherr..

This is not a case of, 'typical Everton that!' It's the clubs fault. I don't know how much pre-season he got at Mainz but he was wildly off the pace in his first game. Being thrown in like that in a new country in a frenetic premiership game left him vulnerable to injury. We are meant to have a squad. By the time this lad is up and running at his best you're looking at after xmas. This is another nail in the coffin regarding the clubs so called push for the top six.

Our pre season stunk more than usual this year. It was like it was almost thrown together late on. Nobody seemed to take it seriously and once again we look like one the most unfit sides in the league so far. Only this time it's bitten us in the backside even harder with most of the midfield suffering bad injuries after 3 games.

After his first couple of cameos the consensus was he was useless. Now that he's injured our season is in the bin.

This.

He'll be 'one of the best young midfielders in Europe' by the time he gets back on the bench to save our season.

No pressure lad.

Just relieved it’s not a tendon rupture in quad. That’s 4-6 months minimum.

Let’s hope the ‘further tests’ don’t find any further degree of damage

....apparently injured whilst ‘taking a shot’, well it is the kicking muscle so it does make sense.

Have to be very careful making sure it’s right before he starts striking a football again, or he’ll be back to square one.

If that was the case then that big useless cone collector would have been out of action for 6 months

Yes, it's all very well doing 'shrewd business' late in the window but, for those very reasons, you should be adding to the squad at that time, not bringing in your main investments.

I guess, but is a quad really a common injury? I have no idea on the circumstances, but I thought quad damage can often be the result of something that's built up over time. That's a little concerning I guess, but I have absolutely no medical knowledge, though. I mean, ZERO.
