Jealous of Chelsea or Man City

The oligarchs who are throwing billions about ARE nouveau riche...post the collapse of USSR (1989) was when there buckeroos were made. NB the oil sheiks are not as nouveau riche but lets face it, the internal combustion engine in any real commercial capacity has only been about 100 years. Anyway, this thread has had a lot of twisting detours. I want Everton to win but not at the expense of its soul, it 'everton-ness'. I want to WIN trophies, not buy them

You smashed mate? Is right, you're on our side like.

Not jealous more frustrated!! Because with the right investment we could be a force again it wouldent take much, I watch them teams spend fortunes on players and don't play them, lukaku being a prime example!! The likes of lukaku and Scott Sinclair would do us wonders but yet they sit on a bench!! They've just spent 30 mill on a 28 year old with no prem experience, we haven't spend 30 mill in the last 10 years but dya know what I'd rather be a blue than have all that money.

Never.

Every day you should thank your lucky stars you're an Evertonian.

If we were getting beat 10-0 I still wouldn't wanna support the other side.

Sad this, a few of our fans wanting to sell out Everton like that. Never thought I'd see the day. Twitter generation you see.

Bet you were against us breaking the transfer records for latchford and lawson too? Or Cottee and Lineker?

We've always been one of the biggest clubs and one of the biggest spenders. This myth that somehow it's better to be skint and 6th than rich and 1st is just crap we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better while we undergo a trophy drought that is most uneverton.

A poor everton that wins nothing bears fair less resemblance to the club and how it's normally been over the last 100 years than one owned by a billionaire would.

Whilst I think it's a tad delusional to sit there & say we've never given a slightly envious glance at both clubs lotto wins, I also wouldn't want what their vast new found wealth has done to their clubs soul.

Chelsea's plastic flags, City's stadium half empty with 5 minutes left as they're all in such a rush to hit the motorway.....not for me. I'd like us to have more cash, but not to the level that both these clubs have found, as it dulls the successes anyway - they merely bought it.

No in that way, but thinking of BK & the kings dock fiasco would we have been bought out by the City owners if we would have got our super ground in the Kings Dock L1 area me thinks so that's what hurts a bit!

In a pefect world what I want is for the money to drain out of the game and for us to be able to win the league with a relatively modest team funded by 30,000 season tickets costing a hundred pounds each.

I'd rather they join us than us join them. But I'd rather us join them than the gap still existing,

Slightly off topic, but its around the Traditional big Club V Modern big Club, sort of.

I have noticed something over the last few months.

Hearing bits and bobs about players joing Clubs and I have noticed a trend.

2 Clubs in particular, Chelsea & Newcastle. At the introduction of The Prem. These clubs didn't even have proper training grounds.

Newcastle used to train on park / school pitches. It was the norm for them. Coaches getting rid of the dog turd before the players turned up.

You compare that to us. We have always had a top draw training facility for our Elite players. Surely things like this are a true mark of a big club.

I am a little bit envious. They have had it given to them on a plate, whereas we haven't. I would love to see some of the world's best players at Goodison.

I would love us to win the league (and wind up the affables) - just like Chelsea and City have done.

The fact is may last forever, it may not.

Even clubs who claim that their wealth is 'self-generated' (MUFC & LFC) are nothing without their rich owners, so they are just peeved that Chelsea and City have owners richer than them, so it's BS.

I suppose the proviso is that we retain our identity as much as possible.

I don't want to live in a world where my son will never see Everton win something.

Cries and shakes...

:)

I'm not quite jealous of them yet but if we go another ten years without winning anything and they scoop the lot then im sure i'll become very bitter and twisted.

Its not that we need as much investment as them I think just the fact that if we had maybe 20m a summer without having to sell our better players then we would certainly challenge top 4 more seriously. I like to think we could do things in a more dignified way than them, not going out and taking teams best players and not even playing them, that I feel is just wrong. Fair enough go out and buy good players but they buy for the sake of buying when its not necessary and don't use them.

More envious of Manchester United: finding an outstanding manager, building a squad on the foundations of academy graduates and very smart purchases (Keane, Cantona), and dominating the domestic game for two decades.

Everton had more league titles than Utd when the PL began, and our diminishment as a top team in the early 90s coincided with a broadening of the gap between the best and the rest. Terrible timing for us.

Being jealous of Man City or Chelsea isn't quite the same. It's like being jealous of Andrew Lloyd Webber for getting to put his winky in 80s-era Sarah Brightman: it would be lovely to put your winky in Sarah Brightman, but when you know it's only happening because you've got money your winky will probably get a bit soft. Sarah will pretend she hasn't noticed while you're slugging motionlessly inside her, but you know deep down everything is terrible.

To be very specific, my point is that every single male Chelsea and Man City fan has not had an erection since they were taken over.
