What could have been.....

Apparently he's been offered to Wigan as a makeweight in the Valencia deal. If he's willing to go there i'm sure he'd come to us. Personally i'd prefer a younger player with something to prove rather than a player who'd see us as a downward step though

He's only just turned 27, so has a good 5 seasons left in him and considering he wasn't 1st team before they forked out shedloads for Huntelaar - now there's every chance he'd use a 6 month loan to us to put himself in the shop window or just to play.

We'd just have to make sure that we get European football sorted for next season and that he enjoyed his time here to try and make sure he stayed permanently come the summer.

I love threads like this, everyone creaming themselves over Saviola and then going chicken oriental when we sign Tore Andre Flo on loan!

Kenwright out!

Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie has confirmed the club are interested in signing Real Madrid forward Javier Saviola.

Reports emanating from Spain have speculated that Real are ready to let the Argentine leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the winter transfer window.

Saviola has struggled to make an impact at the Primera Division champions, and Everton, Newcastle and Pompey have all been linked with an approach.

Tony Adams' Portsmouth had a bid for Liverpool's Jermaine Pennant accepted on Friday, and Storrie has confirmed the club are also keen on 27-year-old Saviola.

Storrie added: "I've been working on a couple of targets today - and he has been looked at. I have had quite a lot of discussions with Real.

"I'm sure there's a deal to be done but it will be down to Tony to decide if he wants to take that forward."

I don't even think we were interested in him. Moyes always keeps things quiet and I'm sure he'd consider talking to us than Pompey if we were interested
