2025/26 Jarrad Branthwaite

penny for Moyes thoughts. This season alone he’s missed his best CB for the majority of the season, his best creator for 1/2 the season, AFCON took his second best creator one holding midfielder for 6 weeks and he lost KDH for 6-8 weeks. Outside of Spurs I doubt any other club have lost such key players for such periods.

Maybe he souldnt have been playing his best CB at left back when he’d just come back from a long injury

Maybe, but it’s always worth remembering it isn’t fifa. He will have a whole host of medical staff saying what they think Braithwaite is and isn’t capable of.
Yeah no-one really knows what or how bad anything is at the moment.
But bringing a player back from that long out, especially a player like Branthwaite who plays very composed, not a player that needs to overly assert himself and sticking him at Lb. He looked completely goosed in that first game he was stuck there..

Yep, it’s a fine balance between minutes in legs and protection. There was definitely more people in this forum angry about his lack of selection than selection. I guess the club knew better?

Maybe, ultimately, this fragility is why he’s still here.

So phenomenally frustrating, though… to get a genuine worldy come through and he can’t stay fit.

EDIT: And irrational though it is, the nagging sense that he’ll leave and suddenly stay fit just won’t go away.

He isn’t leaving any time soon, he can’t string 2 months of football together, why the hell is this still a thing?

Yep, assume his medical staff gave him the go ahead. Obviously I had no idea, but I’d be gobsmacked if he was told not to play him and did so.
I’d be amazed if it was as black and white as that. That player is in the red zone, oh he doesn’t play then.

Do you think in a cup semi final and the medical staff told Moyes his best two players were in the red zone and he says ok I won’t play them.
I still think the final decision will always be with the player and manage. I’ve heard some say, if it wasn’t Chelsea KDH wouldn’t have played, I find that hard to believe, but that’s what I heard.
