2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

the european thing is also a bit mad when you consider just how much stronger and richer the premier league is now than the rest of europe, with the exception of the obvious big hitters.

united and spurs ahve seriously struggled this year and coudl have been relegated if the bottom 3 weren't usesless, but both made the final of the europa, chelsea swept up the conference league, arsenal beat madrid over two legs, villa ran psg insanely close ...

showing that you can be part of, if not the main reason why everton has the 4th best efence in the league, despite being the 13th best team, shows just how good Branthwaite is

he doesnt need to play Malmo and Club Brugge every other Thursday to prove that

For me. He does not need a new contract unless we are going to sell him soon ish (To get more money). As he has 2 years plus a year's option left. I never get the fascination of giving new contracts to players who have many years left, myself.

If hes on 40k a week and a buying club offers his agent 180k a week is he more or less likely to stay or go.

Equally if we’re asking 80 mill for him and he’s one of the lowest paid in the squad, there is a value disparity and an unhappy player.

It’s much easier to extract an unhappy player than a reasonably content one.

When it comes to the sums we’re talking about for a Branthwaite transfer and the access to his talent, it’s a no brainer offering him a big new contract in my opinion, especially if he’s leaving in a couple off years, without one it gives leverage to the buying club and player if he’s on a Mickey Mouse deal.

Micheal Keane is on double what Branthwaite us, if your Branthwaite so up d you be happy about that, from a fairness point of view!

The fact he hasn’t signed or ad far as I know hasn’t been offered a new deal actually makes me think we have an intention to sell him this window.

If we want to keep him, we have to pay him what he's worth and what he can command elsewhere, within reason. The idea that we would demand he stays on half of Keane's deal is laughable. We want him, pay for him.

Is this true?

If so it's ridiculous.

He should definitely be offered a new one if we plan to not sell

No one, and that means no one bar the odd few who work at Everton will know how much anyone gets. All these twitters/websites etc that put out wage amounts as like its fact is a total guess, and most are 10s of 1000s apart on lots of players
